Location and Ambiance: The Ox Bar and Grill, nestled on the bustling Main Street of Oxford, MI, boasts an advantageous location, making it easily accessible and hard to miss. The ample parking available is a convenient perk, ensuring a hassle-free start to the dining experience. Upon entering, the interior impresses with its appealing design and comfortable setting, creating a welcoming atmosphere for diners. Price and Value: However, the pricing at The Ox Bar and Grill could be a point of contention for some. While the economy's current state can account for some of the cost, the prices do seem steep, particularly for what is typically considered standard fare. For instance, a simple appetizer like the spinach artichoke dip is priced at $14, which, when combined with a couple of drinks, led to a total bill of $36. This price point could be perceived as excessive, especially for those seeking a casual dining experience without a hefty price tag. Overall Impression: While The Ox Bar and Grill excels in location and ambiance, the pricing aspect might deter those who are looking for more budget-friendly options. It's a place that could be suited for special occasions or for those who don't mind spending a bit extra for the convenience and atmosphere. However, for everyday dining, the cost might be a significant factor to consider.

We decided to go here after our plans on another place fell through, and I am so glad they did. They have a small lunch/dinner menu, which usually means the food is good, and boy was it. The specialty drink menu has a few good sounding drinks. I'm not sure what my wife got, but it had blueberry redbull in it, and resembled a boozy caprisun. I got a grande wer burrito with steak. On the menu it says chicken, but you're allowed to choose between the two with steak costing $4 more. It was worth the upgrade. It was mildly spicy, giving it a sting that accented the taste. The flavor was fantastic, and I'm not a fan of rice or guacamole. The burrito was huge. My wife got the fish and chips, which were amazing. She said they were the best she every had. They werent overly breaded, which meant a good size piece of fish in all three. They had a solid crunch, and the combination with tartar sauce gave a buttery and tangy flavor. The fries were good, but after the fish, it's hard to make a comparison. The bowl of clam chowder my wife got with her fish was fantastic. Thick, creamy, with large chunks of clam, and it was a good size. We got our entrees before I could even finish the soup, so it was fast. We got out the door for $49 before tip, with 2 entrees and a drink. Pretty damn good for Oxford.

Recently I had my 30th birthday and we decided to go to The OX for my dinner celebration. I have to say I was very impressed with our service, drinks, and food. When I called initially to make reservations for a party of 20 at 7pm on a Friday night, I was concerned about being able to get one. But I had no issues reserving and they even called on the day of to confirm our reservations. We were seated right away and our waitresses were fantastic on getting us all drinks quickly as soon as we arrived. When it came time to order, our food was out within 15 mins of placing our order and all the food was delicious, hot, and amazing. All in all I was very happy with the service I had for my birthday and I felt like we were well taken care of. Definitely will go here again especially if I have a large party!

Am I missing something? Have been here a couple of times and was not impressed. 1st time I had a French Dip with French Onion Soup instead of au jus and found 3 little pieces of bone chips in it. I waited until we were ready to leave so the food server could make the chef aware and so they didn't assume someone was trying to get free food. She argued with me that it couldn't have been bone chips because they slice the meat fresh there! Ok Today I asked if the fish was fresh because if a place doesn't sell much of it, it can be sitting around for awhile. She assured me it was fresh and it wasn't. It smelled very fishy and it was yellow when I cut into it instead of the white cod I am use to seeing. Maybe because the place was quite dead it explains why the fish was old. Plus the man who seated me was quite rude. Not friendly at all. As a matter of fact, he never said a word. Just looked at me until I said how many then he turned and walked to a booth and set the menu down. Not one word. I usually give a place 3 tries but, I am thinking because of their prices, I may skip another try. BTW........the manager never came out to ask why I didn't care for the food.........maybe the server...
