We walked out. Waitress was that rude and unfriendly. I asked what uncarbonated beverages y’all had. Our waitress said, “the same ones that every restaurant has.” So I decided to get a water cause I did not get an answer. My husband got a coffee. We did not even order food. But the table next to us with the 4 young “cute” guys that sat 5 minutes after us got to order - everything. High School atmosphere and service. We went to the bar as we left - to pay for a coffee that we did not even drink. Our waitress was not to be found for 10 minutes. The bartender said she had to find our waitress. Our waitress tried to make us pay for 2 coffees with what she told the bartender. I told the bartender (who was another very young woman) that we ordered one coffee and a water - that we did not even drink because we were leaving due to a rude waitress. The bartender lifted up her hands in the air and YELLED LOUDLY at us “well what can I tell ya then! I’ll comp. You the coffee! Does that make you happy?! Is that what you want?!” I said “no, we came to the bar to pay for the one coffee, why are you yelling at us?” The bartender yelled again purposely making a scene “don’t worry about it! I’ll comp your coffee! Ok! Ok?!” My husband placed the cash on the bar .. and we left.
By far the worst service in Oxford. Go across the street to 24th Street Tavern and you will get 100% better service. (And food!)
Response to owner’s response: This happened about 2 months ago. It was not homecoming weekend. It was not a busy evening. There were many empty tables. Ignoring a table for 10 minutes so you can serve a table of “hot guys” is not “catering to all ages.” It’s rude. It’s poor service. Plain and simple. The waitress was rude from the get-go long before that other table showed up after us. The bartender was worse than the waitress. If you want me to be completely honest that was our 2nd time there. The first time we were there was 3 months ago where our waitress (a different girl) stood over our table awkwardly as our dinner came and said that she was leaving and she wanted us to cash out so she could leave. We asked what time closing was and she said “not for 45 minutes but I’m leaving early - here’s your check so I can go.” She STOOD there …. Forcing us to get our card out and pay as our food arrived. This was 2 bad experiences in a row with 3 of your staff .. I’m not expecting a hand out but you really should consider retraining your staff. Thank you for...
Read moreReally wanted to love this place as it's exactly the type of restaurant we prefer (small town, not a big chain, rustic'ish decor). Maybe we just need to try different menu items as there are other reviews where people raved about their selections, but the food (especially the Harvest Salad my wife ordered) was disappointing & not what one would expect for the price. For example, wife's salad was Iceburg (only) lettuce, a few dried cherries, a little bit of blue cheese crumbles, a few toasted walnuts and a handful of apple slices..for FOURTEEN plus dollars - and it did not even come with chicken or any other protein. That's crazy, as the ingredients probably didn't cost even $2, if that. Compare that to one of our favorite restaurants in Rochester, where the salad she typically would order was nice quality MIXED greens (not just Iceburg), came with a good portion of grilled Salmon, and was only a few dollars more. At the very least, one would hope a $14+ salad (and other salads on the menu that cost even more but also come with just Iceburg lettuce) would at the very least include mixed greens. Inflation aside, $14+ dollars for what was served is crazy and not something we'd order again. Service also wasn't great - did pickup and was told "go to the bar", which I did..no-one at the bar. Couple of servers nearby chatting it up. No-one bothered to recognize that I was standing there waiting, so I had to interrupt what was obviously a social chit chat to get waited on. Sad, because it looks like a pretty cool place that could be one of our favorites, but appears to have a lot of unrealized potential and there's definitely room for...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews of anything, yet I feel the need to warn others or at least get this off my chest. Yesterday I ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp, and it was truly the most vile thing I've ever been served at a restaurant. It was so soggy, flaccid, and sopping with flavorless dressing, you'd have thought someone dug it out of a takeout box at the back of their refrigerator after a week. The "house made croutons" were just unseasoned hunks of jaw-achingly stale bread. The shrimp was cold and rubbery. It was all topped off with a literal pile of powdery bagged "parmesan cheese." This Caesar salad is the first thing I've ever ordered at a restaurant that was actually inedible. Sadly my children were getting antsy, we were with a group, and I didn't have the time or patience to send the food back and request a new item. Luckily my 3 year old was kind enough to share some of his kid's meal cheeseburger with me so I didn't go totally hungry. I remember eating at Red Knapps 15 or so years ago and I thought the food was pretty good. Not sure what changed. I will say that our server was kind...
