Been eating here for 5 years. At one point this place ruined others’ sushi for me bc it was head and shoulders above anything I tried (looking at you, volcano roll and you nigiri appetizer). They had unique versions of rolls that no-one else had. Now it seems like they are copying everyone around here. This place began my love of sushi. Then covid hit and their previous sushi chef went back home to be with their family and has yet to return as far as I’m told. They spent a few years without a sushi chef. Recently Cindy and crew left and were replaced by some younger folks. I feel like the place has taken another hit in quality. The nigiri rice was undercooked 2x in a row and the sushi was uncomfortably warm for me. 3x in a row Some of their thai dishes seem to be lacking seasoning. Their cooked rolls are still damn good. Appetizers seem to have the same great quality. I highly recommend the egg rolls, egg drop soup, and teriyaki skewers. For me this place food was 6/5 when i found it. I had no qualms about dropping $50+ there myself and reheating later. The quality of food was mind blowing for me. Now I’m questioning at least my favorites. I assume they are probably just young and lack the experience of the older gentlemen who cooked before. The service is still amazing as always. Everyone is super nice. For me this is still the best Chinese restaurant in town. You get way better sushi portions than Blufin, Yumi, or Fuji.
Also the oolong tea here is my favorite tea. I started ordering...
Read moreI’m not from the Anniston/Oxford area, but I came here because I enjoy Thai and Chinese food. Unfortunately, this place was a huge letdown not just in terms of quality, but also in how I was treated as a customer. When it came time to pay, my total was $28. I paid $18 in cash and asked to put the remaining balance on my card, which should’ve been around $10. Instead, they charged my card $15 meaning I was overcharged by $5 with no explanation. This felt dishonest and borderline predatory. It’s extremely frustrating to feel like I was taken advantage of, especially when I was clear about how I wanted to split the payment. As for the food, it was bland, lacking any real flavor. Definitely not what I expect from a place claiming to serve Thai or Chinese cuisine. The only thing I enjoyed was the Thai tea everything else was forgettable. Overall, this was a bad experience. The food was subpar, the service felt shady, and the overcharge left a really sour taste in my mouth. I won’t be returning, and I strongly encourage others to double-check their receipts and be careful when paying here. I left feeling ripped off and disappointed. If i could return Id definitely...
Read moreI wouldn’t recommend this Chinese place. Don’t get me wrong the customer service was great but the food was disgusting! I’ve been staying in Oxford my whole life and never tried this place.. I’ve always seen it but drove right pass it. The only reason I ordered from them was because I wanted Chinese on a Monday and the New China on greenbrier is closed on Mondays so I gave this place a shot. When I called in the order I had to repeat myself over 3 times because the lady was talking to other people in the background! Lord knows I hate repeating myself!!! Anyways the food had NO FLAVOR what so ever! I don’t understand how someone could give them 5 stars when the food doesn’t taste like Chinese!! My rice didn’t taste fried it taste BOILED! My sesame chicken was also disgusting!! Egg roll was hard as a rock! When I called and placed my order I wanted Lo Mein but she told me it was $21 I told her I’m not paying that much money for Chinese when I don’t ever pay that much when I go to a different location!! I asked how much for crab Rangoons and she told me $10 for 6 of them. Hahaha But this place will never get another $1 from me. Thank you...
