Not sure what happened I was looking at this site after having a wonderful lunch . I hadn't entered a review yet. I was very surprise then with email from Charlie's Place on what they could do to improve our opinion of their service.. ? Somehow one star went thru ??? So to clear this up..as it was upsetting... This was never our opinion ! !!!. .* Please delete the one star response !.How it happened I have no idea..** We had a great meal & are we were impressed by the service. The young lady that waited on us was friendly, knowledgeable about menu /the foods and expressed- what she enjoyed & at same time offered us tastes of the days special... also a dessert .. She was correct it was scrumptious !! Surprised at the variety of choices on menu!!!! It may have been our first visit but definitely not our last. While "dining- in " we were able to see entire staff ...and their interaction with the other customers .We were pleased to see we weren't the exception... everyone was treated with the same friendly manner. Add the food -- it was marvelous!!! .. try the the Paddy Melt and Gyros served with hot crispy fries..(the tazziki sauce was so fresh tasty and the limoncello dessert yum) !*!! I'm sorry for length of review but needed to correct a grievous error... We highly recommend Charlie's Place !! Also I'm proud to be able to say "Thank-you for you're service ! Marine Pride very evident and their dream of having a restaurant is being fulfilled in Paddock Lake . I'm so glad it is ! We can enjoy their great food...
Read moreWhen I first discovered Charlie's Place, I was excited to have a local alternative to Mr G's in Antioch. While a bit higher priced on nearly every item, it saved me a drive and I was initially impressed at the quality of the food over other local competitors. A dozen or so orders later, what I've found is that if Charlie herself isn't working in the kitchen, the food is hit or miss- usually a miss. We chose them for dinner last night and it was a bit disappointing.
No peppers on my Italian beef (as advertised), a slice of cheese lazily melted over half the sandwich instead of grated. Whomever was in the kitchen last night obviously doesn't take pride in their product. I've gotten better from Tenuta's, a local alternative, and they usually seem to have teenagers working there these days.
My girlfriend was a bit disappointed in her chicken sandwich as well. I don't blame her, because let's be honest, you'd get a better cut of the bird at McDonald's or Burger King.
Unless I can find out the days Charlie herself is working, I'm not sure I can justify continuing to spend my money there when I can drive out to Mr G's or just down the street...

We started with onion rings, which were hot, crispy, and not greasy. Meanwhile, the gyro I had for dinner is THE BEST I’ve had in many years. The meat is sweet and the tzatziki sauce is homemade, loaded with cucumbers, super thick, and creamy. It’s also a huge serving and comes with fries.
My husband had their special BLT, again with fries. The sandwich was huge, golden brown, and delicious.
Homemade, no-nut brownies, anyone? They’ve got them and they’re fudgy, thick, and delicious.
Again, stop by. It’s worth it and, if you sign up for their text club you get 23% off your first order if you tell them you did. Charlie’s, as they say, isn’t fast food, but it’s fresh food, and it’s worth the short...
