Horrible food. We came in around 3pm and it was empty, probably 3 tables when we got there, not busy. As we came in we had to wait for someone to seat us. I will say the staff was friendly and the place looks pretty nice. Menu is small, just a page of items, simple, this usually is a good sign that they concentrate on making a few items well. We asked the waitress what was good and she said a few things and we decided on a catfish po'boy, the cod roll, and the shrimp casserole. Speedy service, food was out in 10 minutes, which was concerning if it was fresh food. Everything, you could tell, was prepared or frozen food though. The Po'boy was lacking flavor, wilted lettuce, and small piece of fish, 2 out of 5. The roll and casserole we're some of the worst things I've ate in recent memory. They both had a off sweet taste like they had been made a week ago and started to turn, 0 out of 5. The sides were mediocre flavor and not hot. It could have been such a nice experience but with low quality food it wasn't. Disappointing since me and the wife went on a date specifically here from over an hour away. One thing that turned me off immediately also, when we got our check it gives recommended tip percents/amounts. On there it had 20-28% tip. I generally tip 20% unless the service is bad but if you're recommending 28% tips, everything better be done well, food, service, cleaning, atmosphere, all of it.

A slightly overpriced fish place with ok food. The gumbo was thick and looked more like gravy that sat out all night and was over salted. I'm not sure what type of gumbo it was, but not like anything I ever tasted. Hush puppies were OK but slightly overcooked. Fish was standard fried fare. I prefer broiled. Staff efficient but not overly friendly. I find forcing me to tip your staff and pay for packaging on a to go order offensive. First, pay your staff a fare wage. Many seafood restaurants with bars bring in some serious coin. So take a few and tip your own staff. Second, do dine in customers pay extra for the dishwasher and staff that clear the tables? A significant portion of revenue comes from to go orders. These folks don't use your facilities but pay the same price for the meal. Try treating customers well. They come back again and again. I'll add here that I received no change even though i did not say "keep it" or "it is all good." Sure, it was only a few coins, but it was mine, and to act like it was not something I wanted back is just rude. Bring people their change back.

I was invited here for a birthday party. I looked the prices up online since the catering menu for the party DOESN'T have them listed. Imagine my surprise when my bill was TWICE what you'd pay if you came in alone. $118 for three to eat plus an appetizer. Parties ("catering") beware, you'll pay around $40-50 per person, especially if you each order one of the appetizers. I would not have ordered at all if I knew the prices beforehand. The waitress just kind of avoided talking about why our menu was so limited (in choices) compared to the regular menu. There were several steps where a customer could be (and should be) informed of the price expectations and all of them failed. Two by owner and staff. I will NEVER advise anyone I know to eat here over this. I barely make it from paycheck to paycheck. $26 for an entree that's only $13 on the regular menu? And for what? A tiny 'salad' consisting of croutons, lettuce, and tomato; and a 'side' consisting of a baked potato. $13 more over the regular menu for one of these over the 'regular' dish.

First, I'd like to say that I have dined in at this restaurant on multiple occasions and I have generally had a pleasant experience.

So today, on my way home I did something I usually don't do in regard to Strickland's---- I ordered take out.

I ordered my usual, the Harris platter. The lady that took my order was very friendly and told me it would be ready in approximately 15 minutes. I was already in the area so I was there ready to pay in less that 10. A minutes or so later I was greeted and the lady at the counter went to retrieve my order. As I was paying, I confirmed that all of the relative condiments (sauces) were in the bag, and she took a quick look and said everything was there. So I paid then exited. As soon as I got into my car, I grabbed a french fry and immediately noticed that they were already luke warm. Not wanting to turn around, I continued home. FYI, If the fries were the only issue I probably wouldn't even be leaving this review. After arriving home 5 to 10 minutes later, I prepared to eat my food (after briefly microwaving my fries) so I placed everything into my favorite plate, which brings my next issue. The clam strips were barely "strips," they were more like a few strips and a bunch of crumbs akin to what you would find at the end of the bag. Literally, most of them were too small to poke with a fork. Smh. Highly disappointing! And possibly the worst infraction of them all... when I went to eat my beloved coconut shrimp--- which I always save for last---- THERE WAS NO COCONUT SHRIMP DIIPPNG SAUCE!!! I have never eaten coconut shrimp without the corresponding sauce. That's utterly rediculous. Especially given the fact that I asked if all of the sauces were in the bag! And this trifecta of carelessness and lack of attention to detail is the nature of my complaint.

This is service I would expect at long john silver or captain d's, not a local award winning establishment that has at $20+ price point along with 10% built-in gratuity. Very poor execution! I work in food service so I alway allow a reasonable margin for error, but I also value my hard earned $22. In this particular case, I definitely did not get I paid...

I'm here at Strickland's,service is very slow.my first waitress brought me my drink, then disappeared, after about 10 minutes, after skipping over me several times, she brought another waitress and said she had to leave, but she is still here waiting on others, maybe I remind Remind her of someone she don't like, but I've never been here,I live in Panama City Beach FL.i come to Paducah every 6 weeks,I want come back here again.i ordered some Bienville oysters, there wasn't anything about them that was Bienville, just Parmesan cheese ,and some kind of little red dots? Nothing more than a grilled oyster.the waitress is still here, she ain't leaving?I'm dressed well,no dirty clothes or dirty face, maybe I smell, but not likely.normally I tip good,20-30 percent, but not today, maybe 5 percent,if that.well no I want do that .15 minutes later and still waiting .2 couples that came in after me has their order.(The waittess is still here).finally got my order, fish tacos,I should have went to taco bell, seriously,it was supposed to have cabbage on it,but with no exaggeration there was may a teaspoon of cabbage ,also had a bowl of gumbo,it wasn't gumbo,it was a stew with with a couple of miniature shrimp.i am a chef at a beachfront restaurant in Panama City Beach, and I realize that I am in Northwest Kentucky but this meal was terrible, and I'm sure people comes here and eats the stuff but they don't know better, probably never had real seafood. I am leaving but I did leave a 20% tip, it's not the waitress's fault for that the chef don't know how to cook. And it's probably not his fault. He's because he's probably never been trained...

We have been to Strickland's many times. Typically a great experience. We decided to drive and get a to go order today around 4:45. My husband and I ordered the blackened catfish dinner with one side. They were $13 a piece, our total was over $32.00. When my husband looked at the receipt they had charged us a 10% gratuity plus charged us for the to go order. This was not mentioned on the phone. The tip wouldn't be that big of a deal had we had great service at check out. There were only 2 customers in the restaurant and we had to wait over 5 minutes before anyone ever came out. Then we had to ask for things that should be in there. Utensils, tarter sauce, napkins. If you are going to automatically charge us a tip, you should automatically be on top of the food and what goes with it. I had red beans and rice for my side, which I have had many times and I usually love. Today it was horrible! And the fish was dry. So we will not be coming back to be charged for things we didn't want. And paying that price for food that isn't up to par anymore.

How about you keep the money with your attitude! My husband WAS in the restaurant longer than you are saying, I'm not going to argue with you about that. You can say whatever you want! And for you to have an attitude about it just makes me know we've made the correct decision to not come to your establishment again! Wow, just wow!!! We work in customer service and I have my WHOLE life and this is unbelievable!!! We DID NOT HAVE UTENSILS OR NAPKINS but I guess that's OK since we didn't eat the food!

So take your attitude along with your unedible EXPENSIVE food and have a...
