I can for sure see the possibility of this bistro being great with a few tweaks - and I hope this will be taken as it’s intended rather than a bad report. What I love about it I’ll say first- you have a wonderful variety of fresh baked breads and treats to choose from! And by the way what I’ve tried IS very good in that arena. I’ve had the Lemon tart, biscotti, chocolate chip cookie , and French bread loaf- plus a sandwich there thus far. But both times I’ve gone they were out of French onion soup- :( which I was sad about because I never get to have it- but that’s not that big of a deal really I just ordered a sandwich instead- and it was kind of bland So I won’t likely get it again. My friend ordered a different sandwich and lobster bisque- and for her as well it was disappointing in that it was all a bit bland . The bread they have in the sandwich’s is great but the sandwich itself was - meh. I did however try the restraunt again with another set of friends - who had another sandwich and were dissapointed in it. So now, I’m kind of thinking hmmm, that’s three out of the 5 or 6 offered on the menu that were not pleasing. I wasn’t very hungry so I simply got another lemon tart and oh my goodness do I love that thing! So lemony delicious! But I’ll be honest I’m more likely to go out for a bite to eat for lunch than I am to get a tart- tarts are bonus.. I want my food to be the star. There’s room for improvement here- and I think a few changes could make for happier customers . For instance aside from some tweaks to flavor enhance the sandwiches- a big set back here is simply how they process thing- Rather than having a waitress taking orders and serving tables it’s order at the counter, and pick up at the counter. What I noted is the cashier is also the prepper to a degree- as well as the one who helps you with baked goods- as well as the one helps take out orders, as well as she’s taking the order - The place is fairly busy and it seems to just conjest from the desk on- making it seem haphazard and so much slower than it needs to - the girl is doing her best buts she’s just having to do to many jobs for one person. That makes for frustrated customers , longer lines than necessary and cold coffee by the time you receive it . I think if they had a position for all the girls working there and allowed the customers to be waited on by another girl- other than the cashier the process wouldn’t get as backed up- possibly assigning a person for bakery goods would decrease the back up- and another person to handle the take out orders and processing of orders - ( perhaps making take outs go to the other side of the counter? That would make things less frustrating and move at a better flow. When orders are finished they place them on a side counter and you have to just watch for them and hope your grabbing the right order- we almost grabbed someone else’s as they had the same things! Which is why I think a waitress to bring the order would make for less back up and confusion. Secondly- the area at the counter is adorable with chandeliers and baked goods But If you have to sit and wait it helps to have a bit more atmosphere , outside the counter area it’s not very warm and inviting. I think all of these things could be easily remedied with a few tweaks- and I have high hopes that this might be taken as helpful advice rather than complaint- and if so this would be a great place to go with friends and co workers , I won’t say don’t go there as the treats and breads are great- and I haven’t tried the whole menu so there’s more to try and maybe like, so I’m open to returning for sure but like I said a few tweaks would help to make it more...
Read moreBummer. Be Careful About the Prices Here.
So I always wondered why people ahead of me in line were often confused when their total came up higher than expected. I finally decided to start asking questions—and now I know why.
I asked the cashier what the actual price was on several dishes, especially anything with eggs (they claim egg dishes cost more, but won’t say how much more—even though egg prices are stable everywhere else). Every single item I checked was $3 or more higher at the register than what’s listed on the menu.
Example: A breakfast listed at $12.95 rang up as $16.95. That’s not a small difference.
Even their daily specials, printed on 8x11 posters, are misleading. One time I pointed it out, ordered it and while I was eating they gave me money back because they admitted the price advertised was incorrect. That tells you something. I have now seen 2 staff that feel genuinely bad about about this and one even said to me- "I don't like it either." And the there one gave me back a the money owed from the lunch special price. Crazy. That could be leading to a lot of turn over. The staff realize they are ripping people off.
What’s really upsetting is how quietly and cleverly this overcharging is happening. It’s subtle—$3 here, $4 there—so most people don’t notice. But if you eat here regularly (and a lot of people do), you’re likely getting overcharged every single time without realizing it. Over time, that adds up a lot.
This isn’t just a one-time mistake—it feels like a system. The cash register is set up to ring in higher prices than what’s shown on the menu. Whether it’s breakfast, a burger, or a lunch special, the price you see is not the price you’ll pay.
It’s honestly kind of mind-blowing. It’s deceptive, and it takes advantage of loyal, trusting customers. People deserve to know what they’re really being charged.
The staff is nice and the food is genuinely good, but this pricing issue seriously damages trust. If you go, make sure to ask for the register price before...
Read moreFrench fine dining? NOT recommended for french cuisine or romantic date out. Very tasteless, bland French onion soup, (never mind the other items we ordered!). I had to put a lot of salt in the soup just to taste SALT. The owner tasted it and found nothing wrong with it. We were not criticizing him in order to not pay the $11.00 for the soup, but he did delete my order of the soup off our bill. Being an AVID French soup consumer, this menu item should be advertised as something else or taken off the menu. One note of positivity is the Au gratin potatoes. They were delicious. We were not going to write a review. However, the owner has a very unpleasant and unprofessional attitude. He is very unreceptive to any negative feedback, regardless of the fact when well meaning customers give an honest critique in response to, “how is your food?” A receptive chef appreciates critique in order to tweak the food for the benefit of the customers. But, the owner did not appear to be the chef since he had no apron or hat on. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt with suspenders. Which is so contradictory to the impeccable attire of our waiter. We frequent the bakery some mornings and early afternoon because they do a good job with bread and pastries. But not anymore. They have lost our and our extended families business just because of the owners rude attitude. Not that our input has any sway, but our recommendations is for the establishment to stick to being a bakery. The overall experience was TASTELESS. We will refrain from posting the photos...
