The pies are excellent! Unfortunately, the service is the overwhelming focus of this review.

Called today to order a pie. I know that I can do that online - as the default hold music / recording reminded me over 100 times today, not exaggerating - but I wanted to order a specific pie that is only listed by the slice on their website. So yes, I tried that first.

Selected option one in the call menu, “to go orders.” Waited for 12 minutes before I had to hang up. I was reminded every 30 seconds that I could place the order online. I GET IT. I’m still on the phone, so maybe stop telling me?

Called again an hour later, and selected option two for “future pie reservation.” I was on the phone for 45 minutes listening to hold music and a recording telling me, every 30 seconds, I could order the pie online. Except I can’t order this specific pie online.

Tried one more time a half hour later and selected option three to speak to a team member. The recording told me about “free pie Wednesdays” every 30 seconds for 11 minutes, until I got frustrated and hung up. It was even funnier because every time it said “ask a team member for details” and I thought, I would, if I could speak to one.

EDIT: Despite Google saying it was open, the Baker’s Square website also saying it was open, and it being normal business hours on a Friday… it seems the store was temporarily closed today. I found that out by diving into the online orders menu, where it told me I couldn’t place an order at this location.

Maybe… put that info in your...

The place just felt dirty from the time you walked in until the time you left. The A/C was clearly broken. There were fans placed in several locations, including on tables. The bathroom doors were propped open with garbage cans and the floors were wet, like toilets had backed up. The tables/chairs were sticky either from all the humidity or lack of cleaning.

The food itself was actually fine, albeit MUCH smaller portion than described for myself, but not once did our server ask if we wanted drink refills or even bring a container of water out. She actually didn't come to the table really at all after the meals were brought out.

The place wasn't very busy and it was 6pm at this point. I think I can see why. The final nail in the coffin was the look if the pie. This is the staple of the Business, right? It looked like frozen oue crust, with canned filling.

This is one of the few locations left...and it's in much needed TLC. I used to love going to BS back in the day. Now I have kids and I don't want them touching anything because everything seemed gross.

Sorry, but just being honest. This wasn't my first disappointment going to this location, but this was by far the worst and LAST time stepping...

Went today for the first time since the remodel. Although we had heard that the prices had gone up we felt in comparison to other local places they were comparable. The long over due remodel looks nice. Very clean. Our server, messed up our order and brought the wrong food and drinks. Half way through eating our meal the server brought us a box to take out meal home. Came back with the check and said no hurry. We were still eating. Came back twice with the credit card machine to ask us if we were ready to check out. We said no that we were still eating. We started to figure out the bill that we were splitting and put the cash on the table he came to the table said charge or cash? We pointed at the cash and said cash. He picked up the cash and check and left never to be seen at our table again. He also told me that it was too late to use the voucher for $3 off as he already ring us up. Bad because I would have given it to him as part of his tip. I finally flagged down the manager told him we have not seen our server and could we have a refill on our drinks. He said yes. He went and got my tea. Still had no visit from our server. Wow! Also at no time did anybody ask if we wanted dessert....

I love Bakers Square- even if nostalgia plays a huge role in it. Its "that pie place" my gma (rest in peace) and I would always go to when I'd visit from college or living abroad. Then when she couldnt go out, I'd bring it in to her. All of the locations closed by me so we trekked a solid 1.5hrs to get to this one. Service was good, food was yummy and reasonably priced per usual. Picked up a french silk pie to enjoy with the family as a taste of nostalgia on Easter. The pies freeze well. I will always love bakers square. Their four square turned five, too.

My daughter drove from Fox Lake to get me a banana cream pie for my birthday from my favorite place. And this is what we got (see picture). I'm so disappointed in Bakers Square. It's been years and this is not ok. Now what are we to do? Make that trip all the way there and back with the cost of gas and the time as this is the closest location. It is my feeling that the only way to right this wrong would be to offer us a replacement pie that we can pick up next time we are that way. It's bad enough I didn't have a good birthday dessert.

For the amount they charge per slice of pie, I expect more. I bought a slice of apple pie and a chocolate peanut butter cup pie. The chocolate slice was tiny. The bottom crust of the apple slid off. I've been at this location twice and both times, it's been like this. Sad that the quality control is so poor here. Taste wise, it was good so I don't regret coming, but it's not worth atrip if you're craving pie. You're better off picking up a whole pie from the grocery store for a few bucks more than you'd spend on a slice here.
