I rarely need to write a bad review. But this place left me feeling frustrated and annoyed with how we were treated from the beginning. We made the choice to order because the waitress was the only polite person we encountered. She deserved more stars. But the rest of the staffed ruined that.
We stopped in this afternoon to grabs drinks and appetizers. Weare in town for racing at the drag strip and wanted to try a local place. The gal that I spoke to was curt and not very polite when she stated we could sit anywhere...then I asked about a table outside since we had young kids with us. To be sure we didn't disturb any other guests with their restlessness. Plus it was a beautiful day. She was rude when she said it would be a minute before a table would be cleaned off. As if we were inconveniencing somzone. Not a big deal to us, we were in no hurry. Then the manager I believe (could be wrong about who she was)...an older woman with blonde hair, was upfront complaining loudly about my friend who had a mason jar with juice in her hand...waiting outside (I came out of the restroom, that is in the back...her and the hostess? That I interacted with early...were talking loudly about my friends drink and if she was seriously trying to bring outside alcohol into their establishment. She made an assumption. Then went out and chastised my friend for having an alcoholic beverage on site/out in the open. And she couldn't have it. She explained it was just watered down orange since. She was asked to slam it because there were inspectors about for the festival this weekend. While she was cleaning off a patio table for us I asked what festival was going on. She looked at me as if I had 3 heads " are you serious?? The wine festival.."she was so damn rude it was off putting. Speaking to me like I was stupid or something. I explained we were from out town and here for racing. As a previous server and bar tender, I would never treat a paying customer that way. Our server was the only polite person during our entire time. Wish I had caught her name. We saw the table next to us get up and leave because no one bothered to greet them. Etc. Then when I went inside to inquire about how we could pay the bill, that server was short/snotty as well.
This establishment needs to work on their customer service skills and how they treat customers. Making assumptions and being rude about things and treating customers like they are stupid because they don't know about an annual festival, is not good...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a Palisade local for 50+ years. I pride myself in supporting Palisade businesses and this is one of my favorite places to eat in the Grand Valley. The food is consistently good and it's close to home. We had good service and our waitress was excellent. My disappointment in the atmosphere is hearing another waitress dissing the tourists and complaining about tourist season to other customers. If I was visiting Palisade and overheard her complaining I would never go back and I would tell my friends what I heard. As a former waitress, I understand the stress of working in the restaurant environment but I encourage you to keep your opinions to yourself otherwise it could really affect your business. Remember the Golden Rule. We are called to "love our neighbor as ourselves" plus our economy relies on the tourist industry and visitors from all over. Let us not become one of those tourist towns that resent visitors. Let us show our visitors why Palisade is a special paradise and it's because of the people who...
