We visited Palisade Brewery on a Sunday and had a mixed experience. Our beer flight included the Forbidden Beet, High Desert, Laidback Blonde, and Dirty Hippie. The Forbidden Beet was earthy and unique, the High Desert was watery and underwhelming, but both the Blonde and Hippie were enjoyable.

The food was a highlight—$1 wing night was a great deal, and the mild buffalo wings were pretty good. The grain pretzel with beer cheese was absolutely massive and delicious—highly recommended! The mustard that came with it was incredibly spicy and flavorful, adding a perfect kick.

One charming feature was the wall of local amateur art. While the pieces are objectively sophomoric, it’s a wonderful touch that adds character. Supporting local artists, regardless of skill level, is always a strength. There’s even a playful nod to Maurizio Cattelan’s Comedian, with a candy cane duct-taped to the wall—a quirky and seasonally appropriate detail we appreciated.

Unfortunately, the ambiance fell short. The TVs were tuned to sports, and the music was turned off for football, which clashed with the laid-back brewery vibe we were hoping for. Overall, it’s a decent spot for beer, food, and a bit of whimsy, but the atmosphere could use some...

I am a TOTAL foodie, so I am fairly upset that my experience here was so negative compared to everyone below me. Maybe these people are more apt to bland food? Maybe this business couldn't handle the large influx of people coming to visit after the wine festival? Maybe as an "out of towner" (but still native to Colorado) my expectations are different? I honestly couldn't tell you what went wrong- but everything about my experience was awful. The people working behind the bar are fairly impolite. The drinks are sub-par at best, and there is no service as you order everything at the bar. The food was cold and lacking flavor- they had a hard time keeping up with all our orders. Don't bother asking the gentlemen who brought your food for BBQ sauce with your pulled pork- because you will need to stand in line at the bar for that. Water is placed on a table by the entry, thus you are unable to order it at the bar. The bathroom is dirty, and the people are just unfriendly. So long story short? The patio is a super cool, but not worth everything else. Stop in another town....

On July 3, 2023 I walked into this brewery with my service dog and was immediately yelled at by at least 3 employees. This is not an exaggeration. They all yelled some version of, “your dog is not allowed in here.” After letting them get it out, I calmly told them she was a service animal. One of the employees looked at her and said, “it’s not wearing a vest, you have to leave.” I calmly walked up the person who said it and tried explaining that I am a US Marine Corps Veteran and my service dog is not required to wear a vest. I was preparing to show him the current ADA laws regarding service animals (which I keep on my phone) but he and the others were not interested in hearing it.

The owners clearly need to train their staff on what to do when someone has a service animal because these guys had no idea how to handle it. They definitely did not know the two questions they are allowed to ask under the Federal ADA laws.

I’m going to see if they respond to this before filing my complaint with the State...

My wife and I dropped by for some food and a good local brew, and we were absolutely not disappointed. She chose the low IBU "Laid Back Blonde & I chose the "Let it Grow" seasonal Double IPA. Both of the were excellent. On to the food... she ordered the Beef Cubano and I selected the Mushroom Swiss brisket sandwich. These sandwiches were truly awesome. The bread was crispy and my wife really enjoyed the spicy mustard in her Cubano, and the mushrooms and brisket in mine were to die for. I recommend Palisade. The inside room is relatively small but there is plenty of outdoor seating, including inside of a tent if you wish to keep out of the sun. Great local brewery!

Loved this spot - especially basking in the sun in their seating area outside! My husband and I stopped here for a quick sample of the beer (well, I went shopping in town and dropped him off here with the baby, ha! And then met up with him.) The beers were refreshing and unique; especially loved the Mexican lager (my husband) and I got the pear beer (can’t remember the name but I’d never had anything like it, with fruit - which makes sense given the produce focus of the region!). Definitely will visit again when we return!
