We decided to try a B&B for our anniversary trip and we were not disappointed. In the past we have had challenges with B&B's lacking privacy but not this one. Dave and Michelle are incredible hosts and it is obvious they love having people at this historic house. Staying here is much more a full experience, and not just a place to sleep. This is now our go-to anytime we go to Palisade!||||Property||The property is a beautifully restored (and well-maintained) victorian era home. It is quiet, cozy, and has a huge wrap around porch that we ended up spending a ton of time on alone and with other guests. The rooms are really neatly decorated and clean with beautiful artwork. The biggest surprise was how quiet the rooms were. The house was full and in our room we never once heard any other guests or people in hallway.||||Food||Michelle makes simple, beautiful and absolutely delicious food! I kept asking her for tips on how she makes such simple food taste so good and she was happy to share. If you are lucky you will get to try her breakfast potatoes (crispy on outside, creamy inside) and cream cheese eggs! ||||Location||This house is located pretty close to the center of town, close enough to walk downtown and to several wineries. Being on a main corner, the road gets a little noisy but not a big deal during relaxing evening hours. Being able to walk to brewery, distillery, and farmers market is a huge plus!||||Hosts||Dave and Michelle are friendly, warm, and talented hosts. We felt like we were old friends immediately and were greeted with our choice of drink. 2 of our evenings we sat on the porch with them and other guests and had a great experience sipping cocktails, playing games, and carrying on. They key for us is they have a strong sense of when to engage, and when to provide privacy. Our 3rd night they kept away and we missed hanging out with them!||||Other||While we were somewhat careful about COVID, Dave and Michelle were respectful of guests and made adjustments as needed to be safe. Everyone felt safe and comfortable and had a good time. Only bummer was the hot tub was not open but it makes sense with social...
Read moreLet me start by saying, apparently my experience will differ greatly from the other reviews, because I didn’t find this to be so charming as others did. ||||For some reason, the minute I walked in the door to check in, I offended Michelle. She was never overtly rude to me, but she went out of her way to speak to others and walk by me without a word. When I tried to strike up a conversation, she answered me in as short an answer as possible and then walked off. She wasn't this way with anyone else.||||Her husband, Dave on the other hand, was very nice and friendly, took me around the back to show me the property, talkative, asked if I wanted anything from the store and made me feel very welcome.||||At first, it seemed like my AC wasn’t working, but he adjusted something and it was in fact working. ||||The bed is very comfortable and I felt very safe in the room (king carriage room, which is not in the main building, but about a 30 second walk away).||||The backyard is very sweet, with chairs and tables placed strategically around. The location of the inn is about 1/2 mile from downtown and within walking distance to a few wineries.||||Michelle is an awesome cook. The breakfasts...
Read moreMy husband and I got a gift certificate for Christmas in 2015 to have a mom and dad get-away weekend at Palisade Wine Valley Inn. As life goes with young children, we were just getting around to using it for our Anniversary this year. I've looked at the gift certificate several times since receiving it--looking for an expiration date, and never saw one, until as I was ready to call to book a room the other day--there it was...hidden on the BACK of the gift certiifcate. Thinking this is a mom and pop kind of place, and the fact that we were looking to book "off-season" at the end of October, that they would still be able to honor the gift certificate....however much to my dismay they would not. Not sure what kind of customer service that is, nor why it would make sense to them to loose money--as the gift certificate only covered one night stay, at a place with a 2 night minimum--regardless, if that's any clue as to what it might be like to stay there, then no thank you. I will take my...
