Like the merge of Red Crab and Wild Ginger, but the service needs attention. Cindy was very rude and rushed me and my family. Her first approach she said, āWhat do you want to drink?ā Not a hello, not a smile nothing so I said āexcuse me, Hello.ā And she said āHi what do you want to drink?ā Gave her our drink orders but she didnāt want to bring us water since we had drinks (party of 5) only needed 3 waters, cause āit was too much for herā (but they push a cart aroundā¦.) Never got my sushi order, the food was delivered by someone else so never even saw Cindy til all the food was half eaten. She was rushing about for everything and didnāt seem to care about our table. At the end she added the missed sushi to the bill and I told her I never received it so kindly remove it I donāt know if it was made or how long it sat so I definitely didnāt want it after the fact. She tried to tip herself $32 and not mention it but kept rushing for me to sign the iPad quickly without looking at the red square of an xtra 18% tip. Then she asked if I wanted a receipt I said yes and she huffed rolled her eyes then gave me the wrong receipt.
Members of my family went to the restroom so we waited at the table for them to finish and Cindy walked past our table rolling her eyes at me.
Then going to leave she bumped into me but passive aggressively apologized without actually stopping and acknowledging what she did or who she did it to. Thereās a way to conduct good customer service and thereās a way to just make someone feel unwelcome. And Cindy needs a lesson in that itās definitely not a language barrier maybe a cultural one. Overall it was not a good experience, plus Iāve been here before so that sucks. But Iāll just stick to the bar with the nicer, red haired bartender woman and have the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWild Ginger has been my absolute favorite restaurant in Palm Coast for yearsāIām not kidding when I say I eat here almost once a week. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and hits the spot every single time. Iām obsessed with the Phoenix roll, and the garlic edamame is a non-negotiable appetizer for me. On days Iām not craving sushi, the seafood boils are incredible (especially with the soft-boiled eggs added in), and their ramen features those same delicious eggs. Other standout dishes include the krab rangoons, poke bowls, fried rice, and General Chicken.
That being said, Iām writing this review not just to rave about the foodābut also to express some growing frustration with the service.
Lately, it seems like thereās only one server working the entire restaurant floor: a young Asian man whoās clearly trying his best, but is overwhelmed and stretched way too thin. On our last visit, he forgot multiple items we ordered (including our kani salad and fried rice, which we had to remind him about several times), never came to refill our drinks, and was mostly nowhere to be found. This is starting to become a pattern, and itās disappointingāespecially for those of us who are loyal regulars and expect a certain level of attentiveness.
I miss Diamond, who was always warm, attentive, and made the whole experience feel complete. I understand restaurants get busy, but when one person is left to handle everything, the quality of service really takes a hitāfor both the server and the guests.
That said, the food is always greatāand at least thereās...
Ā Ā Ā Read more2nd time here at Wild Ginger in Palm Coast.
First time a few weeks ago was quite good, had lunch maki sushi rolls with clear soup, hibachi lunch with steak and shrimp plus the accompanying salad. Most all were good, sushi rolls were fresh and enjoyable. The clear soup was simple and tasty. The hibachi steak, shrimp and veggys was very good. The steak pieces were very tender and yummy. The salad dressing (supposed to be miso?) on my salad was not good, tasted sweet, canned or something. Not like a nice, tangy, salty, oniony miso dressing I am used to elsewhere.
Went back yesterday, ordered the maki roll lunch again with clear soup, shumai app and the udon with chicken stirfry on the menu kind of hidden beneath pad thai.
The tuna maki roll came with nori on the outside instead of rice like the lunch menu says. The Alaska roll (salmon, avocado and cucumber) had mushy, older avocado. Both rolls had way too much vinegar in the sushi rice, effectively overriding the taste of the other ingredients. The shumai app was pretty awful, over steamed wrapper skin, inside just mush. Don't recommend this.
The udon, chicken and veggy stirfry was quite good, the noodles, snow peas, mushrooms and carrots cooked perfectly wihile retaining good texture. It is a simple sauced dish I would order again.
If we go back I think we'll stick with the noodle and hibachi dishes and pass on the sushi and shumai. Service was...
