Castañeda's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Palm Desert

Hey all, I am an avid fan of Castenedas and will absolutely recommend you eat at this franchise. They simply have the best chips you'll ever have, that could be a challenge, drop me a comment. NOW FOR THIS LOCATION, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: I have ordered the "Chips with cheese & guacamole" 4 times from this location, and many times from 3 other locations, Palm Springs, cathedral City and Palm Desert off of Varner and Washington. PAY ATTENTION here truly as what this location is doing is highly shady and unlawful... when you order this menu item from any other castenedas, you get exactly what you expect, chips, covered in guacamole, and topped with shredded cheese. It's delicious. When you order this from this location you will be charged an extra dollar. They wont tell you about it, you simply have to catch it. They will then argue with you (yes argue, as much as you'll let them anyway which isnt much since I'm not a fan of arguing with establishment employees) about how their boss says its one or the other. Not both. Even after clearly pointing out that the menu says "chips with cheese AND guacamole" they will stick to their guns. (I have since told them twice that they need to change their menu if this is the case) My visit yesterday ended up in chips and only guacamole... If I wanted cheese, I would have to pay the 99cents. The most disgusting part is that this is the 3rd time they have tried to HIDE the dollar. I actually doubt most people even realize they are being charged extra fees than what they expect. Who knows what all menu items this is happening on that you aren't aware of. Hopefully enough people will pay attention and continue to bring this up and this place can be held accountable for their actions. I encourage you to go order this item and see what happens and of course hold them accountable and also see what happens. My hope is that they will either give in and change their menu or simply comply with all of the other franchises that dont practice this unlawful act. Worst experience so far, I came to the KAISER clinic so after my appointment I was hungry I decided to go there and eat something at the CASTAÑEDAS on 75048 Gerald Ford Dr. The cashier Lizette or maria Im not sure exactly her name because she wasn’t honest when I asked for her name but Fernando the cook tell me Lizette, for sure you guys can find who was it because I went on 08/28/21at 11:17 am according to the receipt I got, if she’s not happy or knows how to provide costumer service or be a cashier, she can work as a dishwasher where she wont deal with costumers because they are first impression of the restaurant and right now CASTANEDAS has a lot of issues to fix starting for their air conditioning because in there was like 80 degrees, the bathroom light wont work!! When I asked the cashier about if the AC works she said is not working deal with it!! Thats not the way, when my food was ready she left my plate at the counter until I went and got it because she didnt have the manner to talk to a costumer, when I was eating I saw the cook going to the bathroom but according to the cashier was out of service so before leaving my hands were dirty for eating so I asked her for a coin so I can washed my hands and she said no because light wont work at the ended she oppened the bathroom as you can read she wont supposed to work as a cashier she dont have...

I meant 0 stars, but I couldn’t post!!! This place does not care about customers. I ordered chilaquiles rojos and the sauce was so thick like tomato paste, it had no flavor, barely any egg in it. I decided to go back and see if they will give me something better and the drive thru lady said if I wanted a refund and I said well no but if you can sure. So I showed the plate to her and she said no I can’t refund it because you just didn’t like it, there’s nothing wrong with the food so I can’t do anything. She said she spoke to the Manager, and he told her not to do anything, I asked if she could fix it and she said no. The manager said no there’s nothing wrong with the food and I am not going to refund it just because you didn’t like it and I won’t fix it or give you anything. I was in shock to receive that kind of customer service. As a customer I should be able to finish what I paid for and if the sauce was not to my liking a good restaurant will definitely fix it. Not at this place- they don’t care. I will never return and a restaurant like this will not make it far treating...
