Habit Burger & Grill — Restaurant in Palm Desert

Update 2022/10/05: Still one of my favorite hamburger joints. This time I tried their seasonal special - the French Onion Char (burger). It has grilled onions, onion rings, lettuce, tomatoes, and LOTS of mayo. Messy to eat but delicious. I definitely want to try it again! Otherwise, everything is the same. Good service. Clean restaurant, friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Fast (relatively for made-to-order) food preparation. Highly recommended!

Update 2022/07/06: This is still one of my favorite fast food places. Their Chicken Club Sandwich is absolutely my favorite thing here. Today was no different. Great food. Great service. Great tea. Nice and relaxing dinner that I didn't have to make and eat at home. Highly recommended!

Update 2022/05/05: This is still one of my favorite restaurants. I really love their Chicken Club, made with a grilled chicken breast, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. With a generous side of fresh French fries, jalapeños, and iced tea. Heaven! Very clean restaurant (and bathroom). Very nice staff. Quick service for something made to order when you order it. Just be forewarned that they keep the AC on high so the dining room will be chilly. At 6 pm, a jacket will feel very comfortable. They offer take-out, outside pick-up, and plenty of parking. No drive-thru because of city ordnance, but easy to get in and out quickly. Can't wait to go back! Highly recommended!

I've been to The Habit in LA many times back before the Pandemic and hadn't been there afterwards. However since I'm working from home in Palm Desert, a friend and I decided to try the one here. He highly recommended the Chicken Club Sandwich as something he always eats here. I had always liked their BBQ Chicken Salad, without onions, and a lot of jalapeños on top (highly recommended). However, the sandwich was absolutely awesome. Served on grilled Sourdough, along with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado, it was delicious. In fact, I went back the following two days and ordered it again. It had French fries and fresh iced tea. I can't wait to go back again soon. Unbelievable!!! The manager or supervisor that was in charge this afternoon, the 4th of April, around 2pm, really blew me away with her incredibly negative response to an incredibly sweet "trainee" receiving a mere ONE DOLLAR tip from me, that I handed to him, individually! !! I had no idea that they put tips into a community tip jar that they then split amongst all of the other workers as well!!! Unfortunately, and apparently, poor, sweet, hardworking Tommy didn't know that yet either! !! I figure that because when I went back in to give Tommy a couple of bandaids, he was getting chewed out by the gal that was in charge! !! I was SHOCKED to see that, to say the least! I then addressed her myself to defend the young man by telling her that I'm the one who approached him, initiated a conversation and continued asking him questions. The UNBELIEVABLE, CRAZY response I got was, ,,NO RESPONSE AT ALL! !! Just a completely rude, pompous, mean stare; at me, then off apparently at nothing! !! What a ridiculously negative, inadequate way to handle this situation! When in all actuality, there should not have been ANY type of issue whatsoever, at all! !! All That young man needed was some encouragement, acknowledgement and an "ATTA BOY" pat on the back; which is precisely what I gave him along with the measly one dollar, token tip!!! This guy is dealing with a lot of loss in his life (which was one bit of important information that happened to come out in our brief conversation) and there was absolutely no reason for him to be treated like that way by her at all whatsoever! ! ! I stopped in on a Thursday, approximately between 11:45-12:15...there was a lunch rush and the place looked understaffed. The kiosks were open for patrons to order since there was a wait to order at the register.

This older man was so upset he had to either wait in line or order at the kiosk...so he felt he had to let the manager, and everyone else, know he was doing a bad job. He said he was in the industry and would've handled it better. Also made sure to tell Luis, the manager, that he was going to call corporate to let them know.

It was so rude and unnecessary of him to say that. Luis, the manager, and his staff were doing the best they could with the line.

I am giving this location 5 stars because the Food was perfectly prepared and cooked. We ordered the classic cheeseburger and fries' meal and their new Spicy Crispy chicken sandwich. OMG! if you like crispy chicken sandwiches and coleslaw and pickles and spicy sauce! You're going to love this one!

Luis also suggested the Banana Wafer Shake and it did not disappoint. They use real ice cream! and Nilla Wafer pieces!

Given it was lunch rush, Luis and his staff did an amazing job, even when encountered with impatient customers. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and the place was clean. Condiment bar and drink fountain was also clean. Lids and straws were stocked, and the lemonades looked refreshing.

Definitely returning for the great service by Luis and his staff - he also suggested the Oreo shake so I want to try that one next; the perfectly prepared food...and hopefully there won't be anyone there to ruin the...
