Palm Desert goodness goodness you were striking out with regard to the food scene not surprising though I have been underwhelmed the entire time I’ve been in Palm springs and Palm Springs area with regard to food scene. So at the recommendation of one of my favorite baristas in the area at another place, I should have gone for coffee in hindsight. I decided to try this local coffee roaster/coffee shop. When I want custom coffee, I’d like for my barista to be a bit more enthusiastic about the roast - that didn’t happen - most importantly to me , in an area with very undrinkable if not dangerous to drink tap water - I would expect that when I am purchasing a small $ 7.40 pour over that the water be filtered if not then come from bottled water not a small where dirty dishes are washed sink - but that’s exactly what I got, and when I asked if their water was filtered the young man who was making my coffee acted as if he had no idea what I meant. Additionally, another customer asked if there was a restroom and once again the young man serving the coffee, acted as if he was asking him point-blank a calculus problem in his head and give him the answer, and his answer was “ ugh ugh , well I think the nearest bathroom is at the Tower market / gas station. At this point, I really didn’t even want the coffee so I took a couple of sips and it was just ok - but I refused to finish because I don’t do tap water - not in California not anywhere. In hindsight, I wish I had just settled for my $2.65 triple shot Americano and a pleasant chat with the brarista who kindly recommended I give this place a try. Underwhelmed and...
Read moreI hate to write bad reviews but as someone who has worked in the hospitality industry as a server and bartender for years (on all spectrums of hospitality) I was really disappointed. I came in for the first time the day before thanksgiving. The staff barely acknowledged me as I showed up despite being the only one in their shop for maybe 10 minutes. One eventually pointed me toward the menu. I ordered several things off the menu. I found the barista at the register to be short and cold. I inserted my card for payment. I didnt see the tip prompt at first and she didnt take time to point me toward their screen until I had to sign and when I realized I didnt get a tip screen I asked about it. She printed my receipt and said its fine which I think was done in bad taste. No eye contact, I insisted to be able to tip and she ignored me.
I was excited to come in as a filipino who loves single origin coffee and not been to a filipino owned and sourced coffee shop. The coffee was okay to be honest not horrible but not good. Their pastries were awesome though ( I had bought 8 so my bill was like 60 bucks).
Overall I am just disappointed as a filipino as we are known for hospitality and to go to a coffee shop thats trying to promote filipino culture it sucked to have such a trash experience from start to end. I do think the owner was running in and out and seems like he either was oblivious or didnt care to say anything. I hope they do better in the future for...
Read moreThis coffee shop is an absolute gem! I adore its location in a plaza that feels wonderfully untouched and not at all commercialized – a truly refreshing find. The fact that it was bustling speaks volumes about its quality! As someone who appreciates Filipino culture, I was thrilled by the unique aspects of this coffee shop.
During my visit (my second while in the Palm Desert area!), I indulged in a few of their offerings. The Four Seasons drink was a fantastic and well-balanced blend of different fruit juices. The pandan bibingka was simply yummy! Surprisingly, I even enjoyed the adobe pandesal, and that's saying something because I'm not typically an adobo fan. My Ube Matcha Latte with oat milk was good, though I personally would have preferred it a little sweeter.
What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service. The tee shirt I wanted was displayed on the mannequin but wasn’t available in the merch section, yet our server went out of her way to get me a fresh one. Even more impressively, another cafe worker overheard me asking about the bibingka (as there weren't any in the display) and immediately let our server know they had some in the back! This level of attentiveness and going above and beyond totally won me over. It’s clear they truly care about their customers.
Clearly, I loved my experience because I even bought their shirt! We're already planning a return visit tomorrow. Highly, highly recommend checking...
