We recently visited Curries Authentic Indian Restaurant to celebrate a special occasion—my wife’s birthday. After a fun and exhausting beach day filled with sunshine and waves, we were on the lookout for a cozy dinner spot, and this restaurant turned out to be a great find!
We walked in without a reservation and were warmly welcomed by the staff. One big plus right off the bat—parking is not an issue at all. As we stepped inside, we were instantly drawn to the beautiful ambiance—the space has a calming, positive vibe that sets the tone for a relaxing dining experience.
The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and informative. There’s plenty of seating, and they also offer a buffet option during lunch hours. While the buffet included the usual suspects like tandoori items, biryani, and a mix of vegetarian dishes, it seemed slightly limited in variety. Still, it’s nice to have both buffet and à la carte options available.
A word to the wise: be mindful of the spice levels. We usually eat spicy food, so the “regular spicy” worked well for us—but if you go for “Indian spicy,” be prepared for a serious kick!
As seafood lovers, we were a bit disappointed by the limited fish appetizer options, but we still enjoyed what we ordered: • Shrimp Masala • Shrimp Manchurian • Chilli Paneer
While the portion size for non-veg appetizers felt slightly small, the flavors were absolutely on point—everything was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.
For the mains, we had: • Lamb Nihari – This was the star of the evening! It came with naan and was perfectly spiced, tender, and full of flavor. Highly recommended. • Veg Noodles – Tasty and well-seasoned, although they use thick noodles, which might not be to everyone’s preference. • Chicken Biryani – Looked and sounded fairly standard but delivered well in terms of flavor.
They also serve alcohol, including popular Indian beers like Haywards 5000 and Kingfisher, which was a nice touch.
All in all, we had a wonderful dining experience—delicious food, great service, lovely atmosphere, and fair pricing. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite and the overall vibe of the place. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine—especially if you’re in the area after a day...
Read moreWe have finally found our favorite Indian restaurant in Florida! Words can’t describe what a fantastic experience we had; from the moment we stepped in the door to leaving completely full with dessert to-go we were blown away by both the food and the service. (You know it’s good when the dining room is full of tables at 4:50 on a Tuesday afternoon) We were greeted by the most friendly staff all of whom you could tell took pride in the food and service that they were providing all of their hungry guests! We were even lucky enough to speak with one of the owners himself who beamed with passion for giving everyone who walks in a perfect dining experience. You could taste that the kitchen uses the freshest ingredients and makes some of the most creative selection of Indian dishes we have ever had the pleasure of tasting.. everything is made from scratch!
Whenever we try a great new place for the first time we always go overboard wanting to try a bit of everything so we ordered 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and the homemade butter naan bread (for the two of us haha) . We started with the Chicken 65, the Calamari Pakora and the Shrimp Masala Fry, all ‘Indian Spicy’ which had the perfect level of heat where you could definitely feel it without overpowering all of the amazing flavors. For entrees we had the Lamb Curry, Mango Chicken and the Bagara Baigan (baby eggplant coconut curry) and we were blown away by the flavors in each and every dish. After thoroughly enjoying every bit of our meal we were extremely full but had to get a little something sweet to-go and the Gulab Jamun fried donuts were the perfect option.. soft sweet pillowy fried donut holes soaked in the most delicious cardamom syrup.. to die for!
We can’t wait to return later this week for the weekend lunch buffet and many more times in the future.. Curries is now on our short list of favorite...

Figured with a 4.9 Google review rate, they must be better than many others in the Tampa Bay region.
Coming from up north, we've been looking for a wonderful Indian restaurant to enjoy. The flavor was ok. The restaurant looked nice and service was average. Nothing special.
I was dissappointed with the quality of the food. The rice was stale and flavorless. The chicken tandoori was not at the level of Spice or heat requested. I requested mild to medium, but what I received I wouldn't even call it mild.
I understand spice and heat is subject to each individual and their tolerance to it, but it would have been nice if they simply offered some spicy sauce on the side for the customer to determine how hot they want it to be.
The ambiance inside the restaurant was good. Outside there is a lot of road construction which can affect the dining experience, but not their fault. We all know FL is continually doing road work in ever growing areas, to better accommodate traffic.
All in all, it is an average Indian food restaurant but not a 4.9 in my opinion. Maybe the buffet experience is different but after the takeout experience not sure if I am inclined to return.
Curry Mango in Lakeland has excellent customer service, the food takes a bit longer to cook but it is fresh, flavorful and certainly spicy if you request it.
We hope to find a comparable restaurant in the Tampa /...
