Listen to me.... Every so often you have a chance to just get the best that there is to get with purchases and decisions that you make. Decisions that you know with all the money in the world (if you invented the PC or a fruit insignia computer) you couldn’t get better treatment or merchandise. New York Diamond Center in Clearwater, FL is one of those rare opportunities.
I have had three opportunities to deal with this family owned and operated business and all were fabulous. I first purchased a gift for a special person some years ago and got world class treatment; they took time even though my budget wasn’t huge. I got the best value at the end of the day as subsequently confirmed by others in the industry.
That was a great experience but this is even better. I then returned a couple years ago and presented the owner with an engagement ring no longer needed (hey, it happens) and after looking it over meticulously he told me exactly what the diamond was and how much it was worth before I took out the GIA certification from my back pocket. He told me the truth when others had lied to me by downgrading my diamond’s quality so they could steal it. I’m not stupid so you walked away from them. NYDC told me the retail value, taking the time to school me on how they ascertain that by showing me other supporting documentation of similar diamonds. They then told me what they thought they could sell it for in our area and how much they'd be willing to give so that they could make a fair profit. The spread between what they would give me and what they could sell it for was minimal in my eyes, I found it fair and made the deal. I was paid cash on the barrel head after signing some authorizing docs (everything above board at this place) and I was on my way with nearly 75% more than two other dealers offered me. I couldn’t believe that I was dealing with such honest folks in an industry that is quite frankly scary for laypeople. When the owner told me “we have to make a profit, we don’t have to make a killing“ I detected complete genuineness.
Cut to a scene a couple years later (today)... I walk in with a friend that was about to let their jewelry go to another store in a neighboring county. I told them to wait it out and come with me to NYDC. Guess what; nearly 50% more than two other offers and that’s after the grading of one of the three diamonds we brought in was actually lower than the other two places. The owner’s son is a certified gemologist having spent the better part of two years in California to learn the trade and better serve the clientele. Dylan was able to bring samples to me and using different apparatus clearly showed me how in this case the other grading was too high and incorrect. It was plain to see that he was a right to lower the grade one step. But they still paid me more! This whole experience built my confidence in these people to the point where I will use no one else for jewelry unless I move too far away, LOL. For them to take the time to give me lessons in gemology and still treat me more than fair rather than just throwing a number out so they can steal my jewelry and hit a homerun with the next person says a lot. Mainly what it says to me is if they won’t steal from me to buy they’re not going to steal from you to sell. When they present you with something you can be confident that it’s what they say it is. My friend left today with the biggest smile, now able to convert grandma’s jewelry into a home for the family, which trumped sentimental pieces at this stage in life. The owner knew what the sale was about and although they were completely pragmatic, I still wonder if they were a little soft on the situation today knowing about the sentimental nature of the pieces.
In any case, I felt compelled to write a review, this is the first one, I’ll find other places to post it. Deal with NYDC and deal with confidence. Jewelry is expensive and dear to us, let folks that understand that help with it, not sharks on a feeding frenzy to turn huge...
Read moreThe best keep secret in Pinellas County! You need to shop here. Having worked in the industry for 10 years as a former manager of a mall retail jeweler, I can tell you that I have found that the prices and quality of the diamonds and jewelry here to be far above the rest. Our most recent purchase was a new look for my engagement ring and wedding band. Initially we went in for a simple diamond anniversary band. I found exactly what I had in mind, the diamonds are clean, clear and bright. The cut of the diamonds in this band are exceptional and I know this because of the way rings captures and reflects the light. You may not know anything about diamonds, but rest assured that they will take the time to educate you on the differences so that you can make an educated decision. While I was admiring how beautiful this diamond band was for me, we were shown a ring that matched the band perfectly and that I would be able to have my diamond set into. Again the diamonds in the setting were brilliant, clean and clear. The price for the quality that we wanted was beyond fair, so with no pressure from the excellent staff, We said yes. I am so very pleased every single time I look at this ring. The setting enhanced my diamond to the point that I felt I had a new bigger brighter diamond. The best part is truly the way it sparkles in any light. My first experience here was several years ago when I traded in jewelry and gold that I no longer wanted. After shopping 7 other places, NY Diamond Center gave me the best price and after that I knew that I would not waste my time again anywhere else. If they don’t have exactly what makes you happy, Andy will get it for you. Andy and his staff, Peter and Mario are amazing to work with. They are my personal jewelers, and they should...
Read moreYour a smart shopper and decided to go onto Google reviews to find the best quality, service and/or pricing for your jewelry. My personal experience includes going to many, many locations ( I won't mention their names but know I went to every major named jeweler in the Tampa bay area) and this location far exceeded all my expectations. (I have gotten used to being treated a certain way at other jewelers.)
Don't let the exterior of this location fool you. Yes, many of the other locations looked way fancier.. but let me tell you that NY Diamond Center is passionate about jewelry and care about what the jewelry means to you.
They are honest, straight forward and real. What I mean by this, is from my experience; other locations will give you fancy receipts, good talk on their "master craft machines" and give you 3 week estimates on repairs that only take less than a couple hours to complete. Not NY diamond center. They beat pricing by over 50% compared to other estimates and they make on the spot repairs because of their passion for seeing the job through. They want to see you smile and leave happy with your services.
I don't normally leave Google reviews but I just had to in hopes that maybe a few people can read this and give NY diamond center a chance. They will show you what it's like to have a jeweler who you can trust, who is passionate and who will go above & beyond to meet your expectations. This is now our forever jeweler and I couldn't...
