Iāve been attending the clearwater Kava Culture location for over two years so Iāve had my fair share of good and bad experiences. Usually I just take the good with the bad because Iām thankful for such a unique hang out spot that doesnāt revolve around drinking or excessive partying. While I appreciate the safe environment and fun atmosphere, the drinks are wildly overpriced and it seems the corporation/franchise is all too willing to sacrifice the comfort and safety of their employees AND guests to save face. All too many times have I experienced or been told of other experiences that involved inappropriate or rude behavior from LEADERSHIP within the business that seemed to have no recourse or consequences. Despite this, it seems the only people that ever leave (either by quitting due to their treatment or being fired for whatever asinine reason) are the kind, courteous, hard working employees that actually made me want to be a patron of the business. Amongst other things: wildly overpriced ācocktails,ā ALWAYS poorly stocked and taking days if not weeks to get in basic items to MAKE said overpriced cocktails, out of order restrooms kept in poor conditions (not at fault of employees, just damages that havenāt been fixed), literal insulation hanging from the ceiling, etc the list goes on. Just a reminder to everyone that itās better to go and support an actual local business and not a farce promoting ādrink loveā while consistently showing theyāre just another money-grab attempt monopolizing on sober individuals looking to socialize in a safe environment. Letās not even get started on the poorly crafted cocktail menu? Iāve never had an issue drinking mixed kava or kratom cocktails anywhere else but it seems the desire to make expensive drinks with lots of cool ingredients to mimic alcoholic beverages overshadows taking the time to learn how to make something that wonāt taste like sweetened dirt. The vibes are pretentious and off, the space has many cool aspects but itās like lipstick on a pig to hide the many parts that are in various stages of decay. Itās clear the safety of their employees and their protection against discrimination is NOT a priority. I am genuinely appalled reading the micro aggressions in a recent low-star review left by that I would assume is NOT a regular customer, as well as the groveling response from management. Itās plain to see that review (and many other reviews from that person) is a reflection of their self importance, entitlement, and prejudice. I respect the desire to take these concerns under advisement but I strongly resent the acceptance of what is so plainly a micro-aggression filled Karen rant. Especially when so many other reviews praise the atmosphere of Kava Kulture, and funny enough most of the negative ones surround the prices so maybe hop on that first? The diversity of people, culture, and music at KC has been one of the main reasons Iāve continued to return despite there being cheaper and closer options. At this point, every SINGLE time I start liking a new kavatender and coming more regularly, they end up being let go or quitting! Your turnover rate is telling. I hope this newfound reception to customer feedback yāall have suddenly gained will enact some actually necessary changes preferably to the drink menu, the quality of the location itself, corporate policy, and the role of leadership. Until then, yikes lol I think Iāll be going somewhere else. Oh and shoutout to all the current kavatenders sticking it out there, we see you and appreciate you and hope itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been going here for nearly a year and itās so fun!! Thereās always some fun and engaging activity going on! Of course youāre not required to participate and not expected to, but you are always welcome to, theyāre very understanding here! So if youāre just trying to chill or have fun time with friends or even make new friends, this is right place to go to! When youāre here you feel welcomed and a sense of safety, the staff is always happy to help you and willing to answer any questions you have. The drinks here are absolutely delicious and have a wide variety of handmade cocktails! (My recommendation is Churro Cha Cha š) On top of plenty of drinks, there is also a bunch snacks! There is also a relaxing outside section. Thereās a wide variety of board games and games to play. I seriously love this place, everybody is so friendly and welcoming. Cant recommend this place enough, you owe it to yourself to visit here, have a nice cold drink, and kick your feet up :) Donāt listen to any of the bad reviews on this place, especially the ones about the kavatender CJ, he is one of the friendliest and chillest people on this planet and deserves employee of the month every month. Actually all of the staff members do. I cannot express how grateful I am to have stumbled upon this place. Thank you to all of the staff members for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe owners are erratic, reactive, and even shady. I've been providing services to this place for 2 years and it has a revolving door of turnover (managers and employees.) They appear to care nothing about people and seem douchy in the way they deal with employees and the way they run their business. It's such a shame because the company was originally started based on some admirable principles. Kava Culture has a terrible reputation amongst the local kava community because they seem to care nothing about the actual culture or community aspect of kava. (The Tampa Bay area has the biggest kava community in the entire country by the way.) "Listen to your customers" is a basic principle of running a successful business. The owners never seem to pay attention to any of the feedback that customers have on the local level here. If, instead, they decided to be humble and listen, then their business wouldn't continue to struggle with sales. The owners also don't seem to understand that if they increase manager pay, they will get a much higher quality of applicants for manager openings. Final comment: Drinks are absurdly overpriced. One bula is $9,...
