between the 2 of us, my brother and i have picked up food from saigon cafe maybe 9-10 times since they’ve opened. i’m lowkey obsessed with their banh mis.
their special combo banh mi is absolutely INSANE. there is a ridiculous amount of different meats in it (pork ham, cold cut pork, grilled pork patties, meatballs), and they put pate in their banh mis, too! i always ask for extra veggies (their do chua is balanced just how i like it), and after stuffing everything into their perfectly crisp bread, it’s a shock that it’s only $8.
their special combo introduced me to vietnamese xiu mai, and it’s my next favorite banh mi. the siomai i know is the chinese dimsum kind, so trying these for the first time were a revelation. we’ve also had their grilled pork, grilled steak, grilled chicken, and crispy roast pork banh mis. my only gripe with these single-filling banh mis is that compared to the special combo, they probably only have 1/3rd of the meat (except for the xiu mai; i thought that one has a good amount). and even against banh mis i’ve gotten in other places, their meat is a bit sparse. i would happily pay a bit more so i could get more meat in every bite ngl!
basically, i love this little place and am super glad they...
Read moreThis little gem is tucked in behind the construction on US19 near Curlew road. I ordered the special pho, spring rolls to dine in, and the special bahn mi for take out. The rolls had fresh roasted pork as opposed to the generic pork ham, and the change was delightful. They offered peanut sauce and a tangy fish sauce for dipping. I'm not normally a fan of the strong flavor of fish sauce, but this dipping sauce was very light and tasty. The pho was very tasty. The broth was not overpowering, and all the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. I'm looking forward to trying the bahn mi later. The server was very polite and helpful. The portions were generous and the atmosphere was very laid back. I will definitely be...
Read moreSuch a nice restaurant. I was greeted with smiles from everyone. The service was outstanding. The prices are moderate and worth it. Portions are large and the food is so yummy. Have eaten Pho since 2004 (ish), in many places and various states. But today was a whole new level. Fuhn (sp) Kevin, the owner taught me the proper way to eat Pho. The old way, he said. I was doing it all wrong. He also taught me how to make homemade Sriracha. Oh my, what an experience. What a wonderful human being. Lunch was phenomenal. The sauce was epic, and look at these grilled pork spring rolls. I live on the beach but will drive for return visits to this space. I even purchased food to go. Thanks Kevin to you and...
