Such an awesome place for live music, delicious food, and caring service! This time, we went to see a singer at a special event, but know that there are regular performers who are fabulous each week. Our tickets were seats at the bar. In a space with less than 150 capacity, this is not a problem. Cocktails and wines were great. We split a pear salad and each had an entree. Hubs had the risotto and I had shrimp scampi with squid ink pasta. It's one of my favorites and I liked the fresh, acidic take on the dish. Both pastas were cooked perfectly for us. Bright flavors and portions that we felt were delicious and comforting. At the bar, Brandon and Peter did an outstanding job of being patiently attentive, listening to our questions, making recommendations, and providing service without disrupting the performance. Simply the best servers we've experienced in a long time.
Service overall is thoughtful and anticipated all needs: for example, the owner brought all of us at the bar a pashmina (in purple, of course!) because the air conditioning might be chilly during the show. From check-in, including vaccination records, to the end of the night, everyone was great.
We had been here prior to COVID-19, and ordered take out during (the short ribs are so succulent!), but nothing compares to the experience of being in such an intimate, excellent room! Great for date night or any night.
Update 2022: Midweek happy hour (all evening at the bar on Tuesdays) was awesome and Brandon continued to shine at the bar, with excellent service, making delicious cocktails. He's a bartender everyone should experience. The espresso martini was outstanding! Enjoyed Sharon Sills singing standards, she's wonderful too. As always, can't wait to go back for a unique Palm...
Read moreIf when writing this review I could give this zero stars I would. We had the misfortune of going here for our first time on Christmas Eve for dinner. From start to finish this was a bad experience. We were crammed in at table that was obviously added last minute. (Not like we didn't make a reservation in advance) To start we asked if the bar knew how to make a Kir Royale. Our server said yes. They clearly do not. It was served to us room temperature in a glass that they had added a large lemon peal. Which gave the whole drink a sharp and bitter taste. Cocktail shrimp came covered with a strange spice(s). The tough prime rib was served cool along side of cool lumpy tasteless mashed potatoes. Accompanied by stone cold au jus. Very confused as to why they decided to hide 2 asparagus spears underneath the slice of prime rib. This was not an accident. My husband's prime rib was plated exactly the same way. We noticed at the end of the meal that the other guest all had baskets of bread rolls. We did not, although for the entire meal we had empty bread plates that the servers had to notice each time they cleared courses. Desserts are obviously not prepared on site. My husband and I each ordered something different, both not good. I will say that we were served water promptly when our glasses were empty. That is up until the main corse was cleared and then we never saw our server again until I had to ask for our check. She commented that she had missed the entire dessert course, apologized and said she would bring water and the check. We got the check but no water. To top it all of this meal...
Read moreI thought I had died and went to heaven when I stepped into The Purple Room. Melissa greeted me at the door and ushered me to a great seat at the bar where the most amazing bartender Chris served me. I enjoyed two perfectly concocted martinis and the sole picatta. I couldn't have been happier. I was referred to The Purple Room by local business owner Marianne (Marianne's of Palm Springs). Marianne is a neighbor of the lady who was performing and left a voicemail with her to tell her that I was coming. I have been a piano bar entertainer for many years and I like to show my appreciation of great talent. At the end of Robin's performance I simply walked up to the piano (with a generous tip in hand) to tell her how much I enjoyed her performance. I was immediately accosted by hostess HEATHER and was ordered to get away from the stage! Heather made me feel like a criminal!! There were two longtime residents of Palm Springs who witnessed Heather's behavior and were appalled. They assured me that that is so not Palm Springs and that I should notify management. I did. I did apologize to HEATHER (which I felt was unnecessary) and she simply turned her nose up and would not acknowledge me. If it wasn't for HEATHER, I would give this establishment a ten star rating out of five. It really is that amazing. HEATHER is a poor representative of the establishment. Melissa and Chris profusely apologized on her behalf.. If I am not blacklisted for writing this review, I hope go back though because it is just...
