Horrible experience. Would leave 0 stars if I could. This was the first and probably last time we will ever stay at a Travelodge. We checked in very late Fri around 1-2am after an exhausting trip, and were given a non-smoking pet room that smelled like a mix of smoke, mold, and urine. That was disappointing but not something we would have complained about if it were the only issue with the place. Several of the lamps and outlets didn't work so we couldn't charge our phones or get decent light to fully inspect the room. The door didn't close properly without some force and the deadbolt didn't work at all. We inspected the beds for bed bugs and to ensure the bedding was clean (it was) and fell asleep. At about 8AM, housekeeping entered our room without knocking or announcing themselves, apparently expecting the room to be empty. We then received a call from Martin at the front desk who was equally confused about us being in that room. We told him about the smell and he told us he would try to get us another room for the rest of the weekend. We got up to start getting ready for the day and realized what a horrible state the room was in. The mirrors and walls had splatters, smears, handprints, and HUMAN FOOTPRINTS all over. There was food on the floor and trash behind the beds. Despite the beds being made, and new soap bars and coffee cups placed on the counter, the counters, mirrors, walls, and carpets had not been cleaned, vacuumed, shampooed or wiped down. I went into the bathroom and the TOILET HAD NOT EVEN BEEN FLUSHED, let alone cleaned. There were flies in the shower and bathroom. No hot water. Apparently my friend had trouble sleeping because the smell of urine by her bed was so strong. We called Martin back to tell him about the deplorable state of the room. I don't believe he fully understood how horrible it was because he stated it was because it was a pet room. We do have two well behaved dogs, but we don't live like that, they don't pee indoors or destroy things, and NONE OF THESE issues have anything to do with dogs. These are housekeeping and customer service issues. He told us again he would work on getting us a new room but by that point, partly because he brushed off our complaints by saying that's how their pet rooms are, we completely lost our confidence that any room this hotel offered would be safe, clean and hygienic. I couldn't even wash my hands in that place without gagging. We immediately started searching for other places to stay. I went up to the front desk to explain what the room was really like, inform Martin we were checking out early and request a resolution. I told him at a minimum I expected a refund for the next two nights, and ideally a discount for the single night we ended up staying. He told me he couldn't authorize a refund or discount until his manager was back in the office Monday, but he was sure they could work something out and I would hear back from his manager Monday. We cleared out of that room and checked out by 11:00AM on Saturday. It's now Wednesday, and not only have I not heard from the manager, but we were charged $249.52 for the original 3-night reservation plus a mystery $100 charge that exceeds even the pet fee we were quoted. Called the hotel this morning and was told Clinton isn't in until 10:00AM. Going to try calling again but I hope he follows up with us as he should in a situation like this. I am so horrified by this whole experience, so disgusted that we were too tired that night to fully inspect the room before sleeping there, and incredibly disappointed by their total lack of accountability and communication. These pictures don't even do it justice. Will update this review if we end up getting the refund we are due. For any pet owners: we stayed at the Inn at Palm Springs for the rest of the weekend. They are pet friendly, family-owned, incredibly sweet and their rooms are beautiful and CLEAN. Our stay there was such a welcome relief. Couldn't recommend...
Read moreOur stay was not very pleasant at all. I called Winham corporate office and requested a call back. They took the complaint. We have not heard back from anyone as of this time from the moment we checked in we were given a room that belong to somebody else we went to the room to leave our stuff, and there was other items in the room, as if somebody was already occupying the room. It turns out that that room was already rented to somebody else an hour prior to our arrival we were confronted by the people that had that room they were in the pool. They witnessed us opening their door to their room and were upset that we were able to get into their room. They let us know that they had just checked in an hour ago. We went to the office and confronted the Office worker and let him know that he had given us the wrong room. It was assigned to somebody else and it was already occupied. He then apologized. It was an older gentleman then when we questioned him why we were given a room that was occupied he said that it was a room that was rented since last night Then he told me that we were going to have to wait till 330 to get into the room since it was 230 and he had no rooms available. He told us that he was doing us a favor by upgrading us to a pool view room. I let the guy know that we had requested a full few room and selected the amount of points for that room so he was not doing us a favor. He said we’re getting a room for free. What do we expect? He said that they are welcome to give us any room that they please. I let him know that that’s not right when we’re using our points for a selected room. We should be getting the room that we selected online. He then told me I don’t wanna argue back-and-forth with you. I’m doing the best I can And we don’t have a room for you at this time. I then asked him again about the room and why is it that he can give us any room that he pleases? He then would not discuss that and got upset and told me that he wasn’t going to argue with me I let him know that I was not arguing with him. nobody was arguing with him at all. We were just challenging his answer and he is not happy with that. I then asked to speak to a manager, and the manager came out. The manager was not apologetic at all. You can tell that he was already upset having to talk to me. I told him the situation and told him how I had somebody else’s key to another room how it could’ve ended up way worse by me, being confronted by somebody else it could’ve turned out the wrong way. The manager really had nothing to say They ended up getting us a room that was 30 minutes more waiting. I had to use the bathroom. The hotel had no bathroom to offer me. They told me I would have to wait until I get inside of my room. We went to the room to go wait outside the door as the maid was cleaning it finally after five minutes she allows me to go in to use the restroom. Then we waited for the room to be ready. This was our third time staying at this hotel. It’s not the greatest, but now the service is awful to have to deal with this type of service and also risk getting our room given to somebody else who knows who can steal our items the other two rooms that we stayed in in the past, had issues with the door closing and staying closed. The front doors of the rooms are not even secure. I honestly feel that we should get our points back for this room as this is a huge inconvenience and we had to wait so long to go to the restroom. What kind of public place does not offer a restroom to its guest? I would like a phone call back from somebody acknowledging my complaint. That’s if Windham even cares about...
Read moreI booked a room at this Travelodge for my son and I on our weekend away. I needed a clean, affordable place to stay with a nice looking pool in this general area and was happy to see this online.||The staff when I checked in were very nice. And they let us check in an hour early at no extra cost. In fact, everyone we met or happened to chat with during our stay was nice. That's a big plus to me.||The hotel looks quite worn out in person. Paint is peeling and I saw many rooms with a screen on their window that was bent from having been pried off. Our room had clearly been broken into at some point; the door didn't close tightly (we had to pull it closed in order for the key cards to work) and when open you could see where the frame had been split and repaired (not well). There was other physical damage to our room--a hole in a wall in the main room (covered with--wallpaper?), holes on either side of the bathroom door that had been patched roughly, and grout missing between the floor tiles in the bathroom. The tile border around the bottom of the bathroom wall was all streaked with grey/black marks. Our toilet ran frequently. It was difficult to use the shower as the control was hard to turn.||I paid for a room with one king bed, but I swear we didn't have a king size bed. I sleep in a king at home, and this bed wasn't as big as mine. It was more like a queen... and given I was sharing the bed with my son, this was really disappointing. I am happy to say that the bed was clean and showed no signs of bedbugs.||The room-darkening curtains, when pulled closed, would blow widely out in front of the air conditioner, blocking its flow. We had to put our shoes on top of the AC to hold the curtain against the window so we could feel the AC air overnight. In the morning I noted the curtain had a hole in it, allowing light to stream in. The door also had a large gap under it, visible by the morning light streaming in.||The bed looked and felt clean. I was comfortable sitting on it, as it didn't have a bedspread on top: it had a sheet on top of a blanket. I had an allergic reaction to the bed sheets. I woke up overnight, itching. Full disclosure: I am sensitive to some laundry detergents (but not all; Tide does me fine, as do any free-and-clear types and more). Whatever they use is still causing me to itch more than 24 hours later. Bummer. (And no, it wasn't bedbugs... no bites on me or my son.)||The pool had lots of guests in it, as well as many leaves and bugs floating around. I wondered how often it got cleaned. The guests seemed to be regulars there; they were drinking beer and socializing, with music playing. They all seemed nice. I'm sure if I'd have brought out some drinks I would have been welcome to hang out with them too.||The free coffee in the lobby was hot and full of grinds. Don't drink to the bottom of your cup and you'll be fine. There were cars parked 24/7 under the carport outside the main lobby--it wasn't possible to drive under or drop someone off to go check in.||So overall, I did get what we needed. We were safe, we had a clean bed, and the pool was better than a small rectangular one so many hotels have. But I find the hotel's website photos to be misleading--it is nowhere near as warm or bright or fresh as pictured. If you're up for very basic with a smile on it, this hotel might be fine. Just set your expectations...
