MJ Sushi in Palo Alto completely exceeded expectations. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated with creative twists that made each bite memorable. You could literally taste the clean, natural ocean in the fish—paired with unique flavor combinations that made the experience stand out. We started with the Albacore Nigiri, which was simple and elegant, showcasing smooth, clean filet cuts. The Yellowtail Jalapeño was interesting in presentation—it appeared to have skin-on cuts but tasted completely normal and fresh, adding a unique touch. The rolls were the true stars. The Fiesta Roll delivered a satisfying crunch from the tempura and a perfect blend of ingredients that packed a flavorful punch. The Fireworks Roll was rich, spicy, and well-balanced. But the standout was the Volcano Roll—a baked masterpiece topped with sweet honey walnut for a surprising and delicious finish. We also ordered two bottles of hot sake, which were solid. The miso soup was savory and comforting, exactly what you’d want to start with. Only downside: the water cups had lemons with visible debris floating around, so we skipped those. Despite being almost full, the restaurant moved quickly, and service was friendly and professional. You barely had to wait before dishes started arriving. MJ Sushi is absolutely worth a visit—fresh, fast, and full of flavor.

OK so my wife and I wanted to try this sushi place out. The one that caught our eye about this place are the generous pricing especially in the Bay Area. The place is not that bad but it's very basic. We were seated next to the restroom since there's only 2 of us. We had to wait at least 12 minutes before we were served. We noticed our waitress was taking care of people that was before us, maybe because they were a party of 3. Anyway overall the food was ok, it was something that's not out of this world good. We had the soft shell crab, miso soup, takoyaki, MJ roll, Baked scallop roll and the shrimp tempura roll. Our beverage never got a refill or our waitress checking up on us not even once. The worse thing was the prices. I asked the waitress why the orders have different prices from the receipt to the menu and she said, it just happened today. I just let it go, all I wanted was to know the reason. For the establishment to not notify you of the price change before the food gets to your table is, I feel like something illegal and very unprofessional. Check the photos I posted. Just FYI folks.

It was very interesting how they served us water in water bottles, perhaps there's a plumbing issue? Also, out of all the dishes we had, the salad was the only one in a plastic container, which is utterly confusing. Besides that, MJ Sushi is pretty decent as a go-to sushi spot for the neighborhood. It's great quality and is well priced for the area. The sushi rolls were good but not the best that I have had. Their quality of fish is not as high as other places I have been, but it was still very good. I think there is too much competition in the area for me to choose this restaurant consistently if I didn't live here. Their salmon teriyaki, though, was the best dish out of all the ones I ordered. The fish was still soft and smooth. At the end of your meal, you get to have self-served soft serve icecream. They ran out of vanilla at the end of the night but I had the last bit. It was pretty decent run of the mill buffet style soft serve. Not complaining because it was free.

If you're a sushi lover, MJ Sushi is a must-visit! This restaurant offers an incredible selection of sushi dishes that are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

I recently had the pleasure of getting takeout at MJ Sushi and was blown away by the quality of the food. The tuna sashimi was some of the freshest I've ever tasted and simply melted in my mouth. The California roll was perfectly balanced, with the crab meat and avocado complementing each other beautifully. The spicy tuna roll had just the right amount of heat and packed a flavorful punch. And the shrimp tempura roll along with the tempura appetizer was crispy, light, and delicious.

Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was impeccable as well. The manager Sean was knowledgeable, attentive, and made sure I left happy and with everything I may need.

Overall, I highly recommend MJ Sushi for anyone looking for a top-notch sushi experience. The quality of the food, the exceptional service, and the inviting atmosphere all make this restaurant a 5-star destination.

They’re open till midnight and I will be returning for all my late...
