Wow!!! This place knocked me over!!! To think that a small, family run, local pizza place would hit it out of the park... Oh Man!!!! We had seen Pizza Castle on Chicago's Best TV Show, but in our travels, even their suggestions have every so often missed their mark... But not here. There was a welcome atmosphere, both on the phone to order, and also the second we walked in the door. A truly genuine smile from the owner greeted us, making us feel at home. Pizza Castle is more takeout and delivery, than sit down. Due to their location and size, there are only 6 stools at a lunch counter type setting, and a small table for two making it rather cozy. The counter fit well for their normal dine-in guests, who seemed to favor a pizza slice or a quick sandwich. Even so, our hosts accommodated our every whim, negotiating an Extra Large Pizza and a tub of Lasagna on their counter, along with providing a spatula and metal utensils. (Not plastic) We had called ahead, so the food was ready when we got there. They even were thoughtful enough to wait on putting the garlic bread in the oven until we arrived. It was very refreshing to find that both Father and Son were very proud of the food they served, their Halloween Traditions, and even the tools of their trade. Their Faulds rotating oven (a Chicago Original) and their 1950's dough roller have been churning out fantastic food for generations. On top of all this, they have been showcased on both local TV Food Shows like Chicago's Best, and on the world renowned Foodie Andrew Zimmerman's show "The Meters Running" on the Food Network. By the way, hey say Britney Payton was wonderful and a sweetheart, just like her father Walter Payton . We plan to put this on our short list of favorite pizza places. It was definitely...
Read moreIn an era where many pizzerias come and go, it’s refreshing to see a true classic not just survive but thrive. Pizza Castle, around since 1973, has relocated, but make no mistake—this is still the same old-school pizzeria that’s been serving great pies for decades.
Walking into their new space, you immediately feel the welcoming, family-friendly energy. It’s not just a place to grab a slice—it’s a place to stay awhile. Whether you’re pulling up a seat at the bar, enjoying the outdoor patio, or just soaking in the lively atmosphere, Pizza Castle has the kind of charm that makes you want to be a regular.
But let’s get to the real reason we’re here—the pizza. Their dedication to tradition is evident in every bite. This isn’t some overcomplicated, trendy take on pizza. It’s the kind of pie that reminds you why you fell in love with pizza in the first place—quality ingredients, a well-balanced sauce, and a crust that hits just the right balance of crispy and chewy.
Now, full disclosure—I own a pizzeria myself, but this review isn’t about me. It’s about giving credit where it’s due. Pizza Castle is the real deal, and their new location only enhances what has made them a neighborhood staple for over 50 years. If you appreciate classic, no-nonsense, well-executed pizza in a fun setting, Pizza Castle is absolutely...
