Food 10/10 Manakesh- crispy, hot, great toppings Cheese pockets - well stuffed, delicious, good variations Falafel- ours were made in that moment, so a little bias, dense yet fluffy, full of flavor, both tahini and garlic sauce went well, but wasn't needed as these were not dry. Atmosphere: great for a quick lunch, diner/To go style, office casual
Just go. Came in looking for fresh dolmas (listed on their sides/extras at the time), not realizing they had "soft" closed for the day because they had sold out of nearly everything. I apologized and tried to leave, No. They were going to serve us. They had no fresh dolmas, so I was more than willing to come back later. The owner (a very happy older gentleman with a deep fatherly voice) would not let us leave hungry. We ordered three mana-kesh: a Zaatar, houloomi, and plain cheese(mozzarella); a spinach and cheese pocket and a meat pocket; 2 orders of falafel that were actively made fresh in front of us and so dense yet fluffy, we couldn't split one order (even though we absolutely should have) and even after stuffing myself, I had to take so much to go. The manakeesh are about 8-10 inches in diameter, the crust is light and soft with an unmistakable woodfired crunch, even with all the cheese the center held firm. They season their crust with either a butter and herb/oil and herb mixture that promotes a crispy crust and a nice base to tie the flavors together. Their Zaatar is the first I've tasted that did not have a bitter punch on the aftertaste, just lemony, herbaceous umami. The cheese pockets are everything your looking for in a quick snack: hefty, filling, delicious, easy to carry lol. I was lucky to get a few bites of each before my partner devoured both pockets along with two of the manakeesh. Onto the falafel, while ordering, the owner had explained he had no falafel ready to cook, it would take a while etc... however, if I was willing to wait he would make me falafel fresh. I tried to say, the breads would be more than enough, but we were going to get the falafel. He smiled wide, shouted brightly at his son in the kitchen, and you could hear the fryer getting hot. At this point I realize, we are the ONLY people here besides his family(that I initially thought were patrons). We pay, tipped, took our seats and waited. Our conversations slowly gave way to "do you smell that?" And "that smell is making me hungrier", a few minutes later the owner comes out and shows us the fresh falafel mix, full of green and orange shreds of fresh veggies, showing us how he makes his falafel to get the perfect dome (the trick is, he has the best hands for it lol) this man heads back to the kitchen, filling the space with his singing, as his son comes out with the breads. They smelled so good, my partner nearly burned their mouth. About halfway through our Manakesh, the falafel comes out, and it's clear we will need a second order. Mainly because my partner couldn't contain themselves after the first bite and downed four before I noticed they had been touched. Stuffed, leftovers in hand, we made our way home, we're we finished the...
Read moreWent for a quick bite after taking the teen for her driving test (she passed!) It was just after opening so they didn’t have the full menu available (no falafel) so we chose from the flatbreads. Two of us had the kafta with tahini and one chose sojok with eggs. Both were absolutely delicious and very flavorful. The cashier was so sweet, she carefully explained all the choices to us and made sure we knew which had dairy, and which were more or less spiced. Our food came quickly and looked great. The individual flatbreads were large and completely covered with the toppings. They were soft inside and crisp outside. I want to try everything on the menu! The plan for the future is to arrive a little later and get some...
Read moreThis is my favorite Manaeesh place in DFW. The taste is good, and the people are nice. I'm not sure if the business isn't profitable, but they've increased their prices. I can't justify paying $8 for a cheese Manaeesh. Raising prices will definitely mean fewer people are going to come. I would understand this pricing if the restaurant were located in a fancier area. I know $8 isn't a lot for a meal, but I usually need two to be satisfied, and I think $16 for a meal is a bit too much. The cheese manaeesh is just an example. The prices have increased across the whole menu.
I hope you guys can listen to your customers. After all, you're the business owners, and you know what...
