Tucked away in a rustic, retro setting, Silk at Candler is an establishment that oozes charm from a bygone era. Housed in a former Steak-and-Ale restaurant, the vintage appeal of the building adds a unique flair to the overall experience. The warm ambiance transports you back to the days when such venues were the height of dining sophistication, but with a modern twist that gives the place a fresh yet nostalgic energy.
One of the standout aspects of Silk at Candler is the waitstaff. Many of them have been followed over from a former local favorite bar, and you can sense the renewed passion they bring to their positions. They are not only attentive but seem genuinely happy to be there, creating an inviting and pleasant atmosphere for patrons.
The food menu, while featuring some basic bar staples, does not disappoint. The fried chicken wings are a must try. Juicy, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. French fries accompany these well, providing a comforting and familiar taste. For those seeking something a bit more upscale, options like lamb chops and ribs add a surprising twist. The lamb chops are tender and flavorful, making it clear that this is no ordinary bar food.
The drink selection is another high point. Spirits are poured with vigor, offering just the right balance of flavor and strength. Whether you’re after a stiff drink or something more subtle, the bartenders seem to have perfected the art of making sure the alcohol neither overwhelms nor underwhelms.
The spacious interior makes it easy to kick back and relax, or better yet, break out into an impromptu dance. The lively atmosphere often leads to spontaneous line dancing, adding to the carefree, fun vibe of the place. There’s plenty of room to let loose, and this aspect of Silk at Candler only amplifies its reputation as a spot to unwind and have a good time.
However, one minor drawback is the music. While it helps to set the tone for the evening, the speakers are placed a bit too close to the seating area, making the music feel overly loud and somewhat overbearing. A simple solution would be to elevate the speakers to create a more balanced sound distribution, ensuring the music is lively but not overpowering.
Despite being in an older building, Silk at Candler maintains a level of cleanliness that surpasses many typical bars. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in keeping the space welcoming, even with the rustic charm of the aged decor. Additionally, security at the entrance is thorough and professional, providing patrons with a strong sense of safety without being intrusive.
For those unaccustomed to the "hole in the wall" atmosphere, Silk at Candler might come as a unique surprise. Yet, if you’re in the mood for strong drinks, comfort food, and an overall good time, this spot is an ideal retreat. Its mix of retro appeal, lively energy, and top-notch service makes it a hidden gem...
Read moreWhile I can appreciate a good hole in the wall, this one caught me off guard. The website and reviews are very misleading. The website says "dress code strictly enforced," and some of the reviews stated that this was an upscale place in the hood. Well, when I got there, I couldn't tell that they had a dress code. I saw babies in there, and the place was far from being upscale. The drinks and the food may have been good. I didn't try either. This place may be the spot for a lot of folks, but all I ask is that the place be accurately described. This place is most definitely a hole in the wall in the hood. There is absolutely nothing upscale about this place. Please come in jeans, t-shirt, and tennis shoes. Oh yeah, come super early because the parking lot was completely full at 4:00pm...
Read moreThey will do everything to make sure you're satisfied!!! The food may normally be delicious but a bit too salty for me. My Mac and cheese was missing from my original Uber order and I thought they had forgotten about redelivery but they did not. I tried to go back and change the 1 star rating but I was not able through the Uber app. So crew. Please know that I am grateful and appreciated the extra effort. Just ease up on the salt. I will give other menu items a try as I'm not able to eat this one. I saved the food for my son but he complained of the exorbitant amount of salt as well and could not finish the meal even with those dishes being...
