Bonefish Grill — Restaurant in Paramus

My siblings and I took my parents out for dinner. Despite having dined at other Bonefish locations and having enjoying the food (this time included too), the service at this particular restaurant was one of the worst I've encountered.

We arrived on time for our reservation at 6 pm - and were seated with menus. After approximately 20+ minutes, our finally server came to our table to take our beverage order. Recognizing she didn't come until 20 minutes after we were seated, we entered our order all at once (drinks- literally a glass of wine and a coke and waters for the table, 2 appetizers, and 6 entrees.) My father received his wine promptly. As one staff member dropped it off, she said "Gotta wait for the bread first, sir!" (Waiting seemed to be the theme of the night!) Bread came out about 5 minutes later --- now about 30 minutes from originally seating. To make is worse, guess what?, our waters and my mother's coke arrived after we finished our appetizers...

The server came over and apologized once we were done with our appetizer to check-in. She mentioned that she saw that we didn't have our waters and asked her manager how could "the back" not bring us water before. So, wait? If you saw, why didn't you chime in and take care of your customers? (Or better yet, why not the managers step in and help their staff and deliver waters to customers who have been waiting for 30 minutes?)

When our food finally arrived, it was delivered haphazardly - three dishes coming first and the remaining two following after a few minutes. (Not a big deal in the grand scheme of it all.) The dishes though dropped off to the table with the the appetizer plates and small plates still there. No one came to collect the small plates before entrees arrived! I had to personally hand them over to the food runner after he dropped the dishes off and asked, "Can I get anyone anything?" (Ummm, yeah, clearing the table would be nice!)

Waiter did come to check on us. She asked us if we wanted the check. "Yes, please!" She dropped off the check and collected two main dishes "Let me get these out of your way!" but kept all of the other dishes on the table.

Having worked in the restaurant industry for some time , I understand busy Saturday nights. I get - I really do....However, there are basic expectations to make customers feel they're truly dining out. Waiting for water until after finishing appetizers? Bread arriving after drinks? Serving entrees while appetizer plates linger untouched, not clearing them until prompted by customers? It's simply unacceptable in my opinion, even if it's a chain restaurant! There's so excuse to not do small gestures and pleasantries.

The food was good, but the service... seriously not good at all. Sorry, Bonefish, one of the better chains, but you definitely need to step the service game up, especially...

Tonight was my first visit to Bonefish Grill Restaurant and boy was I impressed. I had made a reservation online and arrived at the restaurant just a few minutes before the reservation time. It was extremely busy. The host told us we would have a 5-10 minute wait. We were seated within 7 minutes of arriving. We were a party of 3.

Immediately upon being seated in the dining room, the server walked over and introduced herself to us as well as informed us of the specials and the menu in general. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Beverages were immediately served within a minute of ordering. Appetizer arrived about 7 minutes after ordering and entrees were delivered within 15 minutes of ordering. WOW! The server was extremely attentive to our needs and refilling of beverages. Plates were cleared immediately upon finishing and timely checks were made frequently.

The food was incredible. Better than I could ever expect. We ordered the Thai Coconut Shrimp for appetizer which was amazing. Coated with coconut and a nice crunchy breading and glazed with a more sweet than spicy sauce. Fresh jumbo shrimp. Absolutely delicious! For my entree I had the 6 oz Anglers Sirloin Steak with Au Gratin Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables. The steak was made to order and very juicy, even though I like my steak well done. The au gratin potatoes were cheesy but not overly salty. I'm not a fan of zucchini so I didn't try the vegetables but they looked great with the grated Parmesan cheese on top. My guests said they were very good.

My one guest had the Lobster Grilled Cheese which was loaded with Lobster and came with french fries and Lobster Bisque. The portion size was unbelievable. Enough for 2 people. The Lobster Bisque was a big bowl and the sandwich was huge!

We ended the perfect dinner splitting the Coconut Custard Pie. Do I need to say anything else? The best Coconut Custard Pie EVER! It was made with Rum too and boy could you taste the rum. It added an extra goodness to the pie. Not overly sweet either. The whipped cream, which to me tasted like Cool Whip, which I LOVE, but the server said it was made in house and whipped cream, whatever it was or is, is not important because it was OUTRAGEOUSLY SCRUMPTIOUS! Best part, big enough for the three of us to split!

Prices were reasonable for the portion size and quality. Atmosphere was extremely pleasant to dine in.

Take a seat and enjoy the meal, service and atmosphere. You will not be...

I have received the worst service from bonefish ever! I started going here around a year ago and today 12/7/24 around 11:30AM was just different in a bad way, to start off, the lady when we walked in waiting for people said “please wait another lady will come to assist you” and I thought that was strange because she was there and couldn’t assist us and wouldn’t even answer the phone that had been ringing for the past minute, then when we did go to sit down the lady that did tell us to wait for another person that did eventually come to assist us didn’t take the plates but I’m guessing she was getting trained so the other lady came to take the 2 plates and didn’t take all 4, the 2 plates that were left were absolutely filthy along with food on the table that we wiped off and it was pure disgusting, myself and my mother ordered a Lemonade & Coffee both drinks were good. Then we ordered like usual & the food came out quicker then normal I have to admit, now to start with the food fiasco, to start my popcorn chicken was 4 extremely small sizes like the size of my thumb finger nail in size & they were mostly breaded barley any chicken inside of the popcorn chicken, however the fries were fine decent portion size and tasted fine. However my mothers salad tastes like pure dog crap, she ordered a “Cobb salad” and the salad was chopped up with vinaigrette a few tomato’s and some chicken, it was absolutely, HORRIBLE I KID YOU NOT IT WAS SO BAD! The taste was just not there at all tasted bland and like dog crap, as I was looking at it looked different then the normal and it looked off, I went to try a piece of the chicken and it was fine then I went to try a second piece and it was cold & literally raw! I kid you not RAW! This is absolutely outrageous and we left hungry because of how bad the food was! At least they took off the salad off the bill since it was so bad but it doesn’t rectify the problem we had today on 12/7/24. Adding on the music was abnormally loud then usual and they shut off the lights like 30 minutes of sitting there which was also odd. I will tell my peers/family about this horrible experience.
