So, we came to this restaurant as a special occasion retreat for our management team. We called ahead and reserved a table for 14. Upon arrival at 7:30, we were asked if we had any food allergies or preferences, etc. I thought this is really weird because typically you’ll just order according to your preferences of a menu after you get seated, but whatever.
We were soon there after seated and we ordered our appetizers which came out about 15 minutes later. Not too bad. Our orders for our entrées were not taken at that time and we had to ask specifically to be able to put them in.
45 minutes after we put in our order, a waitress came out and told us “congratulations! Some of you were going to get exactly what you ordered. Others of you aren’t.”
Not “congratulations your food is ready.“ Or “I’m sorry it’s taking so long.“ pretty much a message that said “ we are unapologetically informing you that you are not going to get what you order tonight.” Apparently they took orders for five steaks when they really only had two left in the back and had to augment some peoples orders.
Another 45 minutes later, the appetizers have long since dried up, as have our drinks.
Still, we wait
A record-setting two hours and 23 minutes later, two servers come out with plates of food.
As the food comes out, the servers have no memory of who ordered what and said gleefully that they had “found two extra steaks in the back.“ Where? Behind a freezer? I have no idea.
Now they start bringing out extra food that wasn’t even ordered. It is a mess. Only two out of our 14 people had the food they ordered place in front of them. The rest had over cooked food, undercooked foods, the wrong food, the list goes on.
Right now it’s 945 at night. We are all exhausted, dressed in our best for nothing, and our unapologetic servers came back to offer a quote dessert on the house,“ to which I quickly responded “how long will it take?“
To be honest I was rather tongue-in-cheek about it but what were we supposed to do?
Of course we didn’t take dessert. We were also ready to go home.
At the end of the night, they bring us a $980 Bill. Apparently charging us for the food that we didn’t order.
The waitresses “oh don’t worry, we took $100 off of the trouble.“ Really? 10%? Upon being told that we thought she could do better than that, she said that she would be able to take half off, and then went and proceeded to charge us for 60% of the bill.
We told you that 14 people were coming. You didn’t prepare for that. And then you told us the excuse of “we don’t do our own reservations.“
Even our drivers had never heard of this restaurant and they live and work in Park city every day. I guess there’s a reason they’ve never heard of it. It’s not worth going to.
We left 70% of the food on the table. If I could leave zero...
Read moreWe are Empire Pass homeowners and have been eating at Brass Tag for 10 years now! It has been (up until last night), one of our very favorites in Deer Valley! We go as a family, and take all of our friends and family several times on each trip we make here...4-6x a year! Last night we sat down to find that our old menu is now gone....In it's place a very limited "Italian style" menu, including pizza, pasta and salads... To say we were disappointed is an understatement, but the courteous staff apologized and reassured us that we would be thrilled with their selections. They couldn't have been nicer, or more wrong. They ruined a simple Wedge Salad by pouring a quart of olive oil on top of it, and then crumbling 1/4 of a piece of day old hard bacon and tasteless blue cheese on top... my grilled shrimp tasted like it had been quickly seared from being frozen. My husband ordered the special steak and asked for NO CHEESE in his salad appetizer. The app came with no cheese, but the salad on his dinner plate was LOADED with cheese!! Seriously??! Just doesn't make any sense. The $38 plate of Papardelle was the kicker though. Yes! TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS for a pasta with no protein!! Add $13 for inedible shrimp and viola, my daughter didn't even eat 1/4 of it. Pasta overcooked and sauce just not right. The Bolognese was okay, but my son said it was nothing special. So, we paid almost $300 (one beer), for a really tragically sad experience that we will not be repeating. Although our server told us that we should have known that the menu changed, it really was not apparent when I was booking our reservations. I wonder if it's intentional??? We are...
Read moreWe just got back yesterday from here. I found this place online and you never are quite sure what you are getting. We were super impressed. Our room was nice and even nicer than I really expected. What set this place apart was the service. We have stay at other ski resorts where they offered shuttle service. This is better than that. They will take you anywhere you want to go-anytime. We took the All Resort shuttle from the Salt Lake Airport and didn't rent a car. You don't need a car at all. They have a shuttle bus that runs to the Deer Valley base from 8-5 and I swear I walked less than when I have stayed at a Ski-in/Ski-Out resort. If you want to go to Park City they will take you there too to ski. They have very nice Cadillac Escalades and they take you anywhere you need to go-grocery store, dinner, liquor store, etc. You just call the desk when you are done and they pick you right up. I am telling you it is A+ service. We never waited for a ride for more than 5-7 minutes. They don't go outside of Park City limits so that is something to consider if you want to ski The Canyons. They also have a complimentary breakfast every morning and it is very nice. Waffles, fruit, muffins, bagels, meat, cheese, multiple cereals. That was nice because you didn't have to pay for breakfast. The other great service I noticed was housekeeping. At many places where we have rented a condo they only have housekeeping every few days or not at all. This was everyday. Very nice touch. You won't be disappointed...
