My big brother and I visited your restaurant for the first time this evening. Below is our combined thoughts.
Con: you seat yourself, and the person who takes your order also takes drink orders, turns your orders in, and serves you. The problem is: the bar is in the front of the place, and the kitchen is in the back. And they’re serving more than one table at a time. So although our server was polite and as attentive as she possibly could be, she spends more time running laps around the building than actually tending to her customers.
Pro: My brother and I both were impressed with the taste and quality of our foods. Nothing was loaded with salt to make you “think” it tasted good. It was loaded with good combinations of seasonings, flavors, and foods. Over an hour later, and my palate is still happy!
Con: although I loved their street corn, and will happily order it again, I was disappointed that it was not made from fresh corn. But seriously....you have to try it! Sweet, super spicy, and yet you could still taste the lime. Loved it!
Pro: We did not wait long for our food to be served. It was piping hot and made to order.
My brother ordered the blackened catfish topped with crawfish etouffee, their fire roasted potatoes, and a typical side salad. He said the catfish was cooked to perfection, fork tender, and was delicious. He very much enjoyed the etouffee. He said the fire roasted potatoes had the perfect blend of spicy ness, with the added bonus of peppers and onions, and was not salty at all.
I ordered their catfish and shrimp platter, with gumbo and street corn for my sides. The catfish was fried perfection. The inside was flaky, tender and flavorful, and the outside was crispy perfection. The shrimp were huge, and cooked perfectly as well. I have never had gumbo before. So I have nothing to compare it to. My taste buds thoroughly enjoyed it though! And I’ve already talked about the street corn.
Our appetizer was their crawfish beignets. It was more like a lightly floured fritter, than a typical beignet. I would compare it to the boudin balls we had earlier this month when visiting a place in Columbia, MO. Only it’s flour based instead of cornmeal, and crawfish only. No andouille. But they were very very good! Especially when dipped in their chipotle mayo!
We both definitely want to go back again and continue to explore...
Read moreWe just went for a second time. The first time was amazing. Second time was terrible. Why they only ever have one waitress half paying attention to everyone blows my mind. I ordered the Philly asked if I could get mushrooms instead of onions. The waitress wasn't sure if u could. But she took the order to the kitchen and never came back. So I assumed the substitution was ok. No. They waited until after they started cooking the food to come out and tell me that there were no mushrooms. And that if I didn't want onions I couldn't have anything but meat and cheese. At this point in ticked. What a terrible way to run things. They offered to make something different but you've already started cooking our food. So If I agree to get something else my partners food just sits there until mine is ready. Plus the tea was sour. The soda tasted off as well. Our fries were way overcooked. The waitress didn't seem at all bothered by the fact that we weren't happy. But how could she running everything alone? And the option to write a review isn't on facebook anymote that I can find. I guess after they got a few bad ones they disabled it? We will easily not be back. She was too distracted by the loud drinking gang of bikers that were taking over the while place to even acknowledge us leaving. One star or none for sure if that was an option. What a complete waste...
Read moreFirst time in after having heard nothing but good things. Everything was great! We had lunch there on a Saturday around 2-3pm. There wasn't a crowd so it was nice and quiet. The bartender and our waitress were both very friendly and the waitress was just the right level of attentive. Our table of 3 got 2 burgers and a philly cheese steak, all with fries. Our order came out pretty quickly and you could tell everything had been freshly made. The burgers are huge! You better bring your appetite. We weren't given a choice on how cooked we wanted the burgers but both came out done all the way through but not dry or burnt. The philly cheese was also very good. It could maybe have used a little extra cheese. The fries are a little hard to describe..they seem to be breaded similar to fries from Rally's. They are seasoned mildly and the portions were generous. If I had to criticize anything, I feel they should rethink a couple of the prices (a little high) on certain sides/extras and the burgers/philly cheese were a little on the greasy side. Since those criticisms are more preference as opposed to a quality or service issue I didn't let it...
