During my visit, I observed two women and two men attending to the tables. While I understand the stress of being short-staffed, the attitudes and lack of respect we encountered at the begining of our time there were so jarring that I feel it is my obligation to share my experience as a warning.
I came in with a group of elderly and special needs family members, all of us grieving after a funeral. We had called a day in advance and again the day of to confirm a party of 8 to 10 people. Upon arrival, a server greeted us sharply, saying, “You’re just going to have to wait.” This wasn’t an issue for us at all. I was confused on the attitude though, as we just walked through the door. We ended up with only 8 people, so perhaps they were simply removing the extra chairs.
We were seated, and our server, a different woman, immediately appeared unhappy to be serving our group: scrunched face, pursed lips, sharp tone. She took drink orders from the first half of the table, then returned to take the second half. At that point, she snapped, “I don’t have all day to run back and forth because you’re not ready to order!” This was the only time she approached the second half of the table, where we provided our drink orders quickly. Upon returning with our drinks, she set them onto the table with haste/force. I tried to be as efficient as possible by gathering some of our party's meal orders, hoping to avoid giving any more reason for her to be unkind to my vulnerable family members.
During the meal, I mentioned to my table how there are jobs available that do not require kindness and patience, I believe I was overheard by the server, as the tone of the service shifted noticeably after that. I want to give her credit for "turning around" her attitude.
On top of the disappointing service, there was a pervasive, foul odor throughout the back half of the restaurant that smelled of old urine. It was overpowering, and one could find relief by simply going into the bathrooms which smelled clean. It seemed to be coming from the booths or carpet, as it lingered throughout the seating area. As someone who works in elder care management, I can tell you that I would never allow such a smell in any care facility let alone expect it from a restaurant. This restaurant clearly needs to address its interior, not only for hygiene but for the comfort of patrons.
To make matters worse, the ceiling vents had a black dirt, mold-like substance around them, and several ceiling tiles were loose. It’s hard not to wonder if a cleaner and healthier environment might improve the overall attitude of the staff.
On a positive note, the food was decent for the price. I can understand why this place attracts older patrons, but I sincerely hope others do not experience the same level of service we did...
Read moreMost traumatizing experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant! I ordered over the phone and drove 30 minutes to pick up! When I got there, They didn’t except Apple Pay, so I asked if my electronic card numbers could be typed in to make my payment. The manager said no. So I had to ask another customer if they had cash app so that I could pay them to use some cash they had on hand. The manager started yelling at me, demanded that I leave, and called the police on me refusing to serve me! As I waited for the police outside in my car, hungry, cold, and crying from the extremely horrible and scary behavior of the manager, A couple knocked on my car window and told me they tried to pay for my food themselves and bring it out to because they felt bad and the manager told them no! They also told me the manager lied to the police and told them I was asking all customers for money because I couldn’t pay for my food, so them along with other customers had to take up for me and tell the police the truth. The police came to my car with free food and an apology for the managers behavior. When I got home, the food was disgusting! This Bakers square is clearly on...
Read moreNot a place we go often, mainly because we always get the same unpleasant server who seems to be bothered when you ask for something. I don't understand why a person holds a service job if they don't like it or they can't fake it til they make it. Besides the "cheery" service..... the quality of food has gone down. My kids like over medium eggs, their eggs were so overcooked that there was zero yolk in them for dipping...... and neither one ate them and they were wasted. To top it all off, your server has to be the one to cash you out...... 1 server in the restaurant, taking orders and serving the tables. I walked up to the register and was told by 2 different staff members that my server has to cash me out..... I had been waiting for her to come and take the bill..... but she had several other tables and was busy..... I saw the host behind the register and thought he would be able to help..... I...
