I visited this restaurant on Dec 10. I took my friends and family for buffet. Food was okay. The servers were new and inexperienced but the owner was horrible. 30 minutes into the lunch, we were tried to be given a check while we were still eating. They also split it without even asking if we need a single check or we wanted it to split. The owner tried to mitigate the situation by saying that the servers were newly hired and it was a miscommunication. This was unacceptable but we didn't want to create a scene. So, this was let go-off. When we asked for the final check, we were charged 18% gratuity and tax after the regular buffet price. I asked the owner about it and he wanted to justify it by showing me the menu and saying they charge it whenever there are more than 5 people on a table. I could have been okay with it had my counter question was answered and his behavior was okay. I asked him if anyone sees the menu during buffet. Not that I didn't pay the full bill, I felt humiliated when he started saying that all the dine-in restaurants work the same way. He said and I quote" I can show you 100 receipts where Indians didn't give tip". I felt this was a racist remark and his attempt to generalize things were unjust, uncalled-for and in poor taste. He could be a big-shot but lacks basic courtesy and behavior classes. He definitely doesn't know how to speak to customers. Having seen other reviews, it appears that the management has recently changed. If this is true, I hope it doesn't fail in reposing its faith...
Read moreHoly Moly!! First I will say I had never heard of Cuisine of India. We were actually heading to North Olmstead when I found this restaurant online and read the reviews. Let me say, do NOT let the location fool you. When we pulled up and saw it, I was leary but starving.
From the moment we walked in we were so surprised, great looking inside and the employees were super friendly.
We had nothing bad!! The Paneer Masala, Dhall Mahkini were delicious. The rogan was absolutely to die for, more goat than bones! Briyani was divine. We also had some kind of chicken with lemon wedge that the server recommended as we wanted to try something new. Truly they were laughing at how much we ordered, but we only get to go for Indian maybe once a month.
Portions were huge, we have never had such big portions served, we literally snacked that night and had lunch the next day.
The owner/chef came out to speak to us as we were finishing and wanted to know how we found them and how we liked the food. We told him to open a one near us!
Hands down this is now going to be our go to Indian restaurant, 40 minute drive is worth every minute.
I will say they are spot on with their spice level, if you dont want a need for a fire extinguisher, stick to 5 or 6!
Thanks for a great meal, cant wait to...
Read moreOverall: I really enjoyed my dish. Ordered through Uber Eats and it arrived timely, fresh, and warm (despite the very cold weather!)
What's Good: The Navratan Korma was excellent!! The garlic naan was very good. Fresh, soft, garlicy, well seasoned. The rice was perfectly cooked, soft and fresh with a bit of cumin seed.
What's disappointing: The Chicken Curry was lacking in flavor.
Side note #1: The to-go containers were ok - a bit disappointing in size, but fine for the BOGO price (Uber Eats deal). They were medium round black plastic with a hole at the top. (Note: The container material is pretty standard for the Indian restaurants in the area, but others provide larger containers for about $3 higher price).
Side note#2: Since we ordered through Uber Eats, I'm not sure if they took our requests for spice level. It was hard to tell. The medium could've been a little spicier and the nonspicy one was a little spicy (glad we could handle it). A couple stray bones and hard spices were easy to pick out. I don't know many places who do it much better, so I wouldn't say this was a disappointment. Still enjoyed my dish and added a little hot sauce to...
