This place is a time-honored tradition in Parma. As a kid, this place would be a common treat after a baseball game, concert or field trip. I lived in Yorktown apartments just behind the stand for 2 years and nearly every day I would walk up to get me and my roommate some custard. For years it became my treat to wind down, reward myself, and just get out of the apartment for a little while.
Most people are confused by the number of flavors available. It used to always be 3 and now there are something like 6-10 options. I just always tell people unfamiliar with ECC to trust me and order what they think sounds good. I usually get a cone or concrete but I've had nearly everything on the menu and I can't recall a single flavor I didn't enjoy.
I never order what I went there to get. I am almost always sold on whatever the items of the day are. Last week I just wanted a cup of vanilla custard and I walked out with a fluffernutter (peanut butter, chocolate and marshmallow). I was not disappointed (I never am at East Coast Custard).
A lot of my view of this place is wrapped in nostalgia, but there is a legitimate reason I have so many memories there: this place is banging and worth a stop if you like cold treats and are...
Read moreWe looked up the time and read that they closed at 11pm. We went up for my birthday ice cream since we're apart of the "birthday club". When we got there the girl at the register seemed very rushed. Anything I asked for she said it wasn't included. After asking for multiple things that weren't included I just decided to pay full price since it seemed nothing was worth the frustration. Once we got our ice cream the staff shut the windows and took everything inside including paper towels. I had originally asked for a cup so that myself and my son wouldn't make a huge mess with melting ice cream in 80 degree weather, but we did not receive it. We ended up having to knock on the window to get said cup, spoon and napkins realizing they actually closed at 10 and the staff was cleaning up. I think they should at least leave napkins out for the customers until we leave. I normally don't go to places right before leaving but did not realize due to the page having the wrong time. I went there to have some birthday ice cream and have a good night but left there really annoyed and thinking it was definitely...
Read moreMy husband and I went to get custard here yesterday, and we were very dissatisfied with the experience. We walked to the front of the building with our masks in our pockets. We saw the sign stating that masks were required to order at the window. We stayed 20 feet away as we figured out what to order. One male employee called out to us that we needed masks to order. We nodded in agreement. Several minutes later, as we were still figuring out our order 20 feet away from the employees, a female employee called out "You need a mask to order. We won't take your order if you don't have a mask" in a rude tone. We had not approached the counter yet, and would have put on a mask before doing so. We thanked the employees for their wonderful attitude and welcoming customer service and left without ordering. We still have not ordered any custard here, and...
