This strudel shop used to be my parent's favorite. They would always get their Easter and holiday bakery from here. My mom grew up in the same neighborhood as the owner did...down in the old Buckeye area. I'm not a huge fan of it, but my mom likes it so I went there to get her some for Easter. I think it would be better for customers who don't order in advance to be able to buy a strudel when they walk in the day before a holiday. I understand the process is labor intensive and planning is crucial for ingredients, etc., however, there ARE people who just forget or don't know what they want until the last minute. I would suggest making about 50-100+ extra strudels so people can walk out with one the day before a holiday. I was there on Holy Saturday a few years ago picking up my order and one lady walked in and they had no bakery left for her to buy...NONE. She asked if there were other bakeries around and the owner said, not they know of. I gave her the name of some other strudel shops and the owner practically went off on me...on Holy Saturday!! Not like I was taking business away...they had nothing to sell to the lady. For that, I will never be back. Aside from that, the shop is just a little bitty place in a small strip plaza. They would do better to expand into a nicer place and at least have something in the bakery counter to buy off hand. That's how people shop nowadays. They have a large customer base who know that they have to order in advance, but they could do better if they would have extra on...
Read moreI haven't been to Lydia's since I was in grade school. This is the second time going to Lydia's at the age of 37 when I was probably in the 4th grade when I went with my grandmother to get apple and cherry strudel. I honestly thought the shop had closed down years. Thank goodness I was wrong but the same time I felt like I was robbed from such delicious strudel with the Hungarian authenticity and love that goes in their products just like Dick's bakery in Berea. I had gotten my wife the apple strudel for the first time for her and I had their blueberry cream cheese strudel and it was so delicious. I really want to get the apricot cream cheese one and I will get my wife a raspberry cream cheese on the next visit I go up there. I was wondering if there's certain days at certain flavors are available or if I have to come at certain hours to get the other flavors. We came in first thing when the store open and they were still baking strudel in the oven. What is the best time when everything is out and all the flavors are ready so I can prepare in advance. I cannot get enough of your...

I've been here twice already and I love their cherry strudels and apple strudels. The flaky crust is delicious and almost melts in your mouth with tantalizing flavor.
The unique baklava rolls are tasty as well and are probably some of the best that I've tried. Not too syrupy or too sweet, but just right to compliment the tender flaky layers.
Round 2 (Feb 2022) stopped throughout a wintery day and purchased a half order of the cherry cheese strudel...amazing taste, because they blend the cream cheese with the cherries. Rating stays at 5/5 ⭐️s
Conclusion: Heck yeah, I'll be back...
