This is a review for dinner. Items ordered: build your own tacos, brisket sandwich, chicken sandwich, and two cornbread orders.
The food itself was tasty. The taco presentation was good but the sandwiches seemed rushed and slapped together. The cornbread wasn't particularly tasty, but it wasn't bad either. I found it to be on the bland end.
There isn't much of an atmosphere to enjoy. While one could eat there with a few people, it's not primarily designed for that. The space they do have is clean, so if you do find you need to eat there, it wouldn't be off-putting.
Now for the trouble spots. On several of my orders, basic ingredients were not available. No tomatoes, no onions, and I took the last piece of lettuce apparently. The app also showed other dishes were not available, but that's understandable since some preparation is required for more complicated dishes. I do expect a place like this to have basic raw ingredients like vegetables.
The order was ready earlier than the window of time given. While that is normally a good thing, it did mean that my food was approaching cool rather than warm by the time I got it.
I would say that given the food I ordered and the price of the food (approximately $50 before coupons), the value for what I got was pretty low. Not to say that these dishes can't fetch approximately this price, it's just that the quantity of what is served is really small. If you're going to charge $15 for a brisket sandwich, I do expect the sandwich size to be a little bit bigger than a Wendy's value Burger.
Will I try it again? Yes, with special offers or coupons. I would not pay full price for most...
Read moreNot for me. This is not what I was expecting. Let me preface this with what I wanted and what was available. I wanted to go out for a quick bite and sit down and was expecting more of a fast food type situation. The place is 90% take out with a counter with 5 stools and 3 small tables. They were all occupied when we were there so we opted for take out. I had a coupon in the mail which got me in the door(good job marketing team). But you need to install an app to use it, sorry it’s exhausting these days. I am a a grumpy old man and just want to talk to a human. Not interface with a kiosk. Maybe the younger generation doesn’t want to talk to anyone, but it just doesn’t work for me. The food was mediocre. My kids had a burrito and a pizza. Burrito eater said local chain has more meat and was better. The burrito was rolled not well(lose and the foil basically fell off when taken out of the bag) it was 17 dollars with guac. Not worth it imho. Pizza eater said crust was good but sauce and cheese is better at our local spot. It was a 12” pie for 10 dollars. Spouse got a shawarma for 18$ it also was skimpy on the proteins but good flavor. I had a chicken sandwich for 8$. It was ok, I think not crunchy enough, bun was good and the lettuce still Crunchy. The drinks are in an open refrigerator for easy access, water dispenser put out Luke warm water in 8oz plastic cups with no ice available.
Overall a mediocre experience that would not bring me back again.
The 15 minutes there waiting for food 5 delivery drivers picked up orders and hustled out...
Read moreRecently, Wonder (Kind of food hall-style concept) -- opened an outlet in Parsippany. They market themselves as offering a unique "fast fine" dining experience, where you can order from a variety of acclaimed chefs and restaurants in a single transaction.
It's actually more of a meal-delivery app that serves made-to-order dishes for lunch, dinner, or whenever you're hungry.
somehow i was under impression that - as it says that it has food hall concept, it would have seating like the ones you see in malls or upscale shopping centers. I even saw this building while driving to work -- it's decent in size, so my assumption felt justified.
But when I visited yesterday, I realized how wrong I was. The space has just 2-3 tables and can accommodate maybe 10-12 people at most and large kitchen area preparing those dishes from 25 restaurants. Definitely not designed for dine-in -- the focus is clearly on delivery and pickup.
You can order from kiosks, and they offer menus from over 25 different restaurants, including some really well-known names.
Here's what we ordered: Tortiglioni Pomodoro from Alazna (a pasta dish) Fried Chicken Sandwich & Fries from Streetbird Zesty Chicken Bowl from Yasas by Michael Symon
The burger and pasta were both really good, but the chicken bowl- was served cold -- I had expected something warm, like Chipotle-style, so that was a bit disappointing.
Overall, the concept is great, but now that I know the wonder is not designed for 'relax- sit and eat', I'd definitely stick to delivery or pickup...
