Sakura Japanese Steak, Seafood House & Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Pasadena

BE WARNED AND BE CAREFUL WHEN IT COMES TO TAKE OUT HERE. CHECK REALLY WELL TO BE SURE YOU ARE GETTING WHAT YOU PAID FOR!!! Husband and I were in the mood for Sakuras, but didn’t want to go out. We decided to do a carry-out order to share since most of the time they give you so much food. Placed the order for filet mignon, shrimp and scallops combo, fried rice, mushroom appetizer, double rice, and no onions in the vegetables with sprouts. Go to divi out the food and they tried to pull a switch on us, giving us a different cut of steak instead of the filet we paid for. Also I asked for it to be cooked medium rare because I figured by the time my husband got home to Severn with our meal the filet may be medium. The cut of steak we received in our container was definitely not filet and was cooked medium well. The meat was in tiny pieces and almost as thin as skirt steak. There were barely any vegetables and literally five sprouts. I called the restaurant with an attitude because now here we are ready to eat and they gave us some BS. When speaking with the hostess that answered she tried to insure me that what I ordered is what we received. She then put me on hold after arguing with her for 5 mins to speak with the two chiefs on duty whom swore up and down that a filet was cooked. All that was offered was a credit for our next visit or for us to return the meal and have it remade. I hate how these places can raise prices and jip you what you paid for!!! So naturally I’m super upset and yelling at the girl. Took the food back up there for a remake and when my husband showed it to them all they had to say was; “Hmmm… it does look a little on the thin side”. Finally when the new remade meal came out it was reviewed again by the staff and apologies...

I'll start off by saying I wish I could give more than 5 stars... This was the very first time my husband & I have EVER been to this type of restaurant and have wanted to try for a very long time. The only problem is we are VERY picky eaters especially thin GG s like onion, mushrooms, peppers,, etc.. along with my 2 children but, they worked with us. The employees were great!! They were sooo funny and put on a great show. Our chef was awesome and everyone enjoyed our time. We don't like to be around alot of ppl. I'm more of a loner obut, we were lucky to have only 2 ppl we didn't know at our table other than our 2 friends and they were pretty cool so, we were fine with it. We all had a great time and our chef cooked our food perfectly the way we asked. He was great. I've always wanted to try Saki. I've never had it but because I didn't know what to expect when the Saki was brought it was steaming hot.🤣🤣.. It caught us all off guard.. lol. We just let it cool and it was actually pretty good. Surprisingly it didn't really have a taste until the after taste lol... I don't remember our chefs name but we left a very generous tip because he really deserved it. If you wanna try a restaurant like this, DO IT!!! GIVE THIS ONE A TRY YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!. Their alcohol drinks are very good and pretty strong. They don't water their alcohol down like a lot of places. We paid 80 dollars for 2 ppl, NOT including tip BUT, it's sooo worth it. They give you sooooooo much food, appetizers, sides. I mean your leftovers will last atleast 2 dinners. Well mind does lol. And we had quite a few drinks. I actually thought the price was too cheap for as much stuff that we ordered. After this past Wednesday 12/6/23 I will never return to this restaurant again. I’ve gone a lot over the years and I’ve enjoyed the food and experience. But this is the second time that’s I’ve had the scallops and have gotten diarrhea for days. The first time I did call 6 months ago and was told it must have been something else because no one else complained that day but was offered a credit. I’ve used that credit and have been back a few times since. Well Wednesday we arrived about 7:50 and was seated at the last table in the back. I ordered the feast with filet mignon, shrimp, lobster and scallops. Well guess what an hour after I got home my stomach started turning in knots and I ran for the bathroom, I had diarrhea so bad for the last few days that I couldn’t leave my house. I’ve never had diarrhea after eating at a restaurant except this one twice. I will be contacting the restaurant again as I know it was the scallops, I eat scallops, I cook scallops and have never gotten sick, the fact that this was the only thing that I’ve added to my dinner and the two times I did, I got very sick from it. Never again can I eat here again knowing I got sick twice from scallops…..wait did I see another reviewer said a friend who ate scallops from here got food poisoning… I’m speaking on my experience but all the other times I’ve gone no issue’s just the...
