Authentic Mexican food that was just delicious! We ordered The chorizo tortas, Cubana tortas, chicken tamales and beef Taquitos all of which where well spiced and very tasty. The tortas which is like a Mexican sandwich is done using bread that’s baked daily, and came out beautifully crisp on the outside and soft from the inside. The tamales was excellent. Their sauces are a must try and both the mild and spicy sauces were very flavorful. The place is a small, family owned location and feels very Mexican and is clean. The owner was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. If you’re looking for a family owned, authentic Mexican place…this is it!

Checked out this spot on a whim after visiting Norton Simon Museum, what a wonderful spot with delicious food and friendly employees. I got Tacos de Papa (golden-fried potato tacos) and they we hot and fresh with cotija cheese and sauce. My friend got chicken tacos with salsa verde and he loved every bite. I can’t wait to go back to try more of their food. Don’t sleep on this lovely Mexican spot in the heart of Old Town Pasadena

Coffee is thin, essentially dark brown water. I asked for a breakfast burrito (which comes with a coffee) but if they could substitute al pastor for the chorizo. She stated it would be more. Sure, a couple bucks is fine. $14 extra. $14. A breakfast burrito is $13.99 Looking at the receipt, she charged also for coffee which was supposed to be included.

There are many places for great Mexican food around LA, and in Pasadena. However, Tortas Mexico is the best place for Tortas I've found through all of LA by FAR! I always use them as a fuel up before or after going hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains.

I gotta give 5 stars based on:

Food Volume! These Tortas are big! Price Point. For old town Pass its very reasonable. Quality. Great quality! They know how to make their salsas and moles. They use actual Mexican cheeses instead of cheap/gross cheddar. Menu items with Avocado have plenty! Carnitas, Pastor, and Asada are cooked perfectly, with the right balance of spices. Anything with flour tortillas use legit sonoran-style flour tortillas, not the cheap mission stuff. Staff. All the staff I've met are super friendly and happy to work there. They seem to genuinely want to make sure you are happy with what you order. Environment: This review is written during Corona-times, but the interior is quaint, clean, hole-in-the-wallish and decorated with vibrant but not cheesy cultural motifs. They also play classic los-panchos songs, further giving me the impression they know how to connect to their roots.

Ive had the Cubano and Carnitas torta, and the breakfast burrito. All hit the spot. I'll continue to gladly give my...

Other restaurants label themselves as "authentic Mexican" when they really are tex-mex (NOT the same thing); this place is legit really authentic Mexican.

The tortas, even the rice and beans are very much like home cooking (my parents are Mexican immigrants and we grew up with the food). Best Torta Cubana I've had- they are widely known for their tortas as well as the enchiladas de mole. They have Mexican (glass-bottled) Coke, but also delicious aguas frescas (we enjoyed the horchata).

The service was excellent: super polite, friendly, and attentive. I wouldn't be surprised if we were serviced by the owner because he was enjoying every moment and really cared about our experience. It took me back to Jalisco and Michoacan, where my aunts would make me tortas in the same style and pamper me to the point of forgetting where I was...
