Star Restaurant in Paterson has been one of my favorite places for authentic Indian cuisine for many years, and they have consistently impressed me every single time. From the moment you walk in, the environment is welcoming, warm, and friendly. The atmosphere truly feels like a second home — it's clear that the owners and staff take great pride not only in the quality of their food but also in creating a positive and family-oriented dining experience for everyone who steps through their doors.

The food at Star Restaurant is absolutely outstanding. Every dish is packed with rich, traditional flavors, and you can taste the love and authenticity in every bite. The spices are perfectly balanced, the ingredients are always fresh, and the menu has such a wide variety that there's something for every palate — from mild dishes to spicy, savory favorites. While I have been a loyal customer for years when it came to regular dining, April 26 was the very first time I had the pleasure of catering with Star Restaurant for a special event, and I must say — they completely exceeded every expectation. I catered for a wedding event, and I was blown away by not only the quality and flavor of the food but also the catering service itself. The team was extremely professional, punctual, and organized. They made the entire catering process so smooth and stress-free, from the initial planning to the delivery and setup. They paid attention to every little detail, ensuring that all the dishes were freshly made, beautifully presented, and more than enough to satisfy a large number of guests.

Our guests could not stop raving about how delicious everything tasted. Every tray of food was piping hot, flavorful, and looked just as amazing as it tasted. You could tell they prepared everything with the same love and care they put into their in-restaurant service. It truly made our event even more special. Their catering service is without a doubt one of the best options for weddings, family gatherings, corporate events, or any celebration where you want to leave a lasting impression through food.

Customer service has always been another area where Star Restaurant shines. The staff is extremely courteous, respectful, and always ready to assist with anything you need. This restaurant use to be great. I’m not sure if the owners have changed but it has gone downhill for sure. After today’s experience eating with family I was very disappointed. We went in and sat down and realized the tables have not been cleaned. I had to go to the front and ask for the tables to be cleaned. Cleaning should be a top priority and it should be done after every dine in with out even asking.But that wasn’t the only problem we had after ordering a few dishes my sister asked the waitress “theirs to much salt in the veggie biryanis and it was sour can you please do something about it or make us a new one” the waitress response “I’m sorry that how it is “and walks away ignoring us. After seeing this behavior I was very upset the fact that he didn’t even offer us or asks if we wanted to get something else. Not only that I took a bite of their mix grill and almost threw up.The meat was so sour and spoiled just like the other dishes. Nothing was fresh and they are rewarming and serving old food. Then I went to the restroom to wash my hands as I entered the hallway I realized it was very dark and I almost slipped not knowing their was a puddle of water on the floor right in front of the bathroom.After putting the lights on their was more water on the floor and tissues which made me feel very uncomfortable. If I could give this place zero stars, I wouldn't hesitate. My experience at this establishment was nothing short of infuriating. Here's why you should avoid this disaster of a restaurant:

Their posted hours are a blatant lie. I arrived at 1:15 PM still they acted as if my presence was an inconvenience. Despite being open (supposedly), they were woefully unprepared. When I started to order, they informed me that none of the dishes were ready yet. Why bother opening your doors if you can't serve your customers? The staff was unprofessional and unapologetic about the whole situation. They seemed completely indifferent to the fact that they were wasting my time and ruining my day. It's clear that customer satisfaction is not their priority. After scouring online reviews, it's apparent that my experience was not an isolated incident. Countless others have had similarly terrible encounters with this place, including issues with food quality, service, and cleanliness. It's a wonder they're still in business. In summary, don't waste your time, money, or patience on this train wreck of a restaurant.
