I recently dined at McAlister's and wanted to share my experience. Overall, it's a pretty good place to grab a bite to eat. Let me break down my thoughts on the different dishes we tried.
First, I had their Club Sandwich, and it was delicious. The sandwich was perfectly layered with tender slices of turkey, ham, bacon, and cheese. The combination of flavors was spot on, and each ingredient was fresh and flavorful. The bread was toasted to perfection, adding a nice crunch to every bite. It was definitely a satisfying choice.
Next, I decided to try the Savannah Chop Salad. While I enjoyed some aspects of the salad, such as the chicken, almonds, and dressing, I personally didn't care for the blue cheese on it. However, taste preferences for blue cheese can vary, so it might appeal to others who enjoy its distinctive flavor. Despite that, the chicken added a delightful savory note, and the almonds provided a pleasant crunch. The dressing tied everything together nicely.
My wife opted for the Roast Beef Sandwich, and she quite enjoyed it. The roast beef was tender and flavorful, and the sandwich was packed with fresh and crisp toppings. However, she found it unexpectedly spicy, which caught her by surprise. If you prefer milder flavors, it might be worth asking the staff for a heads-up on the spice level.
For our children, they ordered the Pretzel Wrapped Little Hot Dogs. They loved the concept, but it was unfortunate that the portion size was quite small for a kids' menu item. Despite that, they enjoyed the combination of the soft pretzel and the mini hot dogs, and it made for a fun and tasty treat.
In terms of my overall experience at McAlister's, I've been here a couple of times, and it has consistently delivered a satisfying meal. The service has been friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable.
While there were some minor drawbacks, such as the blue cheese on the salad and the unexpected spiciness of the roast beef sandwich, the positives outweighed the negatives. The Club Sandwich, in particular, was a standout, and the variety of options on the menu ensures that there's something for everyone.
If you're looking for a decent dining option in town, McAlister's is definitely worth considering. It offers a range of tasty choices, and overall, it provides a pleasant...
Read moreInconsistent and unreliable is how I’d sum up our Sunday experience. We come here most Sunday’s after church, and every single time we come here, the experience is different. We order the nacho basket every time as an appetizer, and each time we request for the cheese dip to be on the side and not smothered over the chips. Sometimes we get it the way I ordered and sometimes we don’t. I’ve always ordered my son a kids turkey toastie, and sometimes it comes with turkey and sometimes it is ham. And sometimes the kids meal comes with a cookie like the menu states, and sometimes it doesn’t. The sweet tea is either way too sweet or just right. I never know if it needs to be ordered as is or half and half. Like I said initially, the experience is always inconsistent, and nothing is more frustrating than having to send something back for it to be corrected the way it was ordered. When you go to a restaurant, you want consistency in the meals, right?
Every time we come here, there are 1-2 workers I notice being there previously, but it seems like there is a new presence of staff almost every single Sunday which might lead to the inconsistency we experience. There appears to be no leadership presence each Sunday to guide the inexperienced workers. And usually when someone is having a hard time at the register, they’ll ask a co worker, and it doesn’t seem like help is happily offered. It seems more like a nuisance.
Overall, I feel like there needs to be a presence of managers here, especially during busy times like Sunday after church. Every time we leave after eating, the line is always to the door and moving really slow because there is only one register open. And everyone waiting is annoyed that service is really slow.
We keep coming back because it’s our Sunday tradition, and my sons loves it. And it really could be such an amazing experience, like it should be, if workers were trained appropriately and felt appreciated for the work they’re doing.
Whether or not we continue to come here is to be determined, but with small Changes and improvement on consistency and having workers trained properly, It could be a...
Read moreMcAlister's deli in Peachtree City is a relatively new establishment, very clean and well-lit, with ample parking. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and very helpful, and contributes substantially to the dining experience. The deli's soft drinks and teas are uniformly large (the tea itself is quite good); the variety of fresh sandwich breads is very appealing; & McAlister's eschews the ubiquitous iceberg lettuce in favor of many more flavorful and nutritious leaf greens.
That's the good news. As far as flavorful sandwiches, it's "caveat emptor" yet again. Each of the menu items billed as "spicy," AIN'T, unless you consider mild chipotle sauce "spicy." Roast beef & horseradish sauce? Better bring your own horseradish. And look for the "spicy" sandwich whose only "spice" is pepper jack. (It is always useful to draw your own conclusions by examining the ingredients before ordering, which are clearly posted.) Oh, and we mustn't forget the Spicy Italian, perhaps named for the cook -- it might even be "Italian" with a traditional vinegar-oil-oregano-based dressing, but you'll seek this in vain, never mind any "spice."
On the other hand, you won't go far wrong with the Ruben, the Roast Beef au Jus, or even the Vegetable sandwich. (Just don't allow your reuben to sit too long, or it's bread will become soggy! This is not a fault of McAlisters -- just a fact of reubens!)
Well, "Hope springs a Colonel!" Happily, McAlister's has far fewer steps to go to achieve true...
