This facility, new to the Crowne chain, was undergoing updates and renovations when we stayed (July 2015). While the staff was very up-front with this, and there were signs posted about it, we nonetheless would have preferred to know this at the time of booking.
The location was acquired a few months prior and had been undergoing changes for about 90 days. Apparently the previous owners had let it go somewhat, especially the exterior. This facility is more of a resort-style (accommodations are in separate buildings from check-in). That is not a bad thing, but know it before you go.
The good: The room was excellent. Beds were comfortable, furniture and fixtures were up to date. AC worked great. Nothing wrong with the interior at all. We used the pool, which was clean and well-kept. Staff was friendly enough. In case of rain, there are umbrellas available at all exits to get you from building to building. The resort is in a beautiful area, great for walks and pictures. The landscaping is in good shape and you might see some wildlife. And it is a short drive or walk even to good shopping and dining. They also have staff-driven golf carts (a staple of Peachtree City) to get you around campus. And there are shuttles to get you elsewhere.
The not-so-good: The exterior was aged and undergoing aforementioned maintenance. That doesn't bother us so much, but again, why not tell us during booking (online or on phone)? Getting to the restaurant and pool area by car is a bit awkward and takes you past plant-operations areas. But then, this is a resort area and you can easily walk to that building. The pool building is hot and muggy even at night. While there are doors that can slide to make it an open area, they were locked.
This resort is a good place to stay that will become a great place to stay, and the exterior will enhance the experience once Crowne and the owners finish putting their usual touch on it. Give it time. Meanwhile, you will certainly enjoy your visit (and probably the lower-than-normal-for-Crowne-Plaza rate) if you don't mind putting up with the...
Read moreI would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. I’m an IHG rewards member and this is my last visit to an IHG hotel it was that bad. First off upon arriving, we find that check-in is located down a gigantic hill and there’s nowhere to park at the bottom and you have to Go up and down it regardless if you plan on checking into this hotel. I am paralyzed and use a wheelchair to get around so this was the first major issue. After rolling down the hill with all my luggage and then find that you cannot get to the rooms from the front desk so then I had to roll back up the same hill with all my luggage again.
Next, I was disappointed to find out that the website is completely wrong. There are not two restaurants and a bar. There is one restaurant and it is located where the front desk is meaning that unless you plan drive or to take an Uber there from your room, you’re not getting there. This place is set up like an apartment complex. Except instead of being at the front, the main office is all the way at the back. Besides that you better have a good set of walking shoes to get anywhere around here and be ready to climb some hills.
Lastly, I booked a Lakeside room which was more expensive and supposedly larger than the normal rooms. So my “Lakeside room” There is exactly 36 inches on each side of the king size bed between the bed and the wall. I’ve literally never seen a smaller hotel room in my life and that Includes even a $29 mom and pop hotel. Additionally, there is no lake at all. It’s More akin to a Koi pond. I really don’t understand how the parent company allows. You guys to stay in business or keep your banner under their brand. You should be ashamed of yourself. I wish I could attach photos to show how big this room actually is. It is absolutely comical. There’s not even room for the Wheelchair to turn around on either side of the bed. There’s literally 36 inches of space maximum if that on each side of the bed.
Again, I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Do not waste your time coming here. You will be very...
Read moreI stay at IHG properties frequently and I have to say this one is at the top of my list. I had a three nights stay with three separate reservations one using points one using the Chase anniversary night one that was just a normal paid reservation. It seems like whenever I go to a hotel. This is always a problem they make you come down every morning check out, check back in remake your keys etc. etc. this is the first hotel in many years that actually was able to handle it properly. I called ahead of my reservation and spoke with AJ at the front desk. He assured me this would not be a problem, and to just speak with the front desk agent when I arrived and let them know to put my credit card on all three reservations, and make a note in the system and go ahead and make my keys for all three nights. When I arrived at the hotel, AJ was actually the one working and remembered me from our phone conversation and I did not have to touch the front desk once after checking in they were able to check me in and check me out. Use the same credit card and they made my key for all three nights, I was so impressed by this something that you think is so small and easy to do most hotels struggle with this concept. I was upgraded to a beautiful suite that was the size of my house. I am an IHG platinum member but certainly wasn’t expecting that. It was very nice, and I was grateful. I had three encounters with the front desk one with AJ one with Elaine, and one with Kathy with whom I checked out with all three of these individuals were extremely professional, smiled, and showed great customer service. I felt welcomed there and all of my needs were met. These days I find customer service to be more of a dying breed and most people are too busy on their phones or with earbuds, not at this hotel. It seem to run like a well oiled machine. I couldn’t say enough great things about the property and all of the staff that I encountered. This was my second time staying here and I will...
