I need to start first by saying, BEWARE OF THE MAN IN THE PARKING LOT NEXT TO THIS RESTAURANT, HE IS ON A POWER TRIP AND DOES NOT WANT ANYONE PARKING IN FRONT OF HIS BUSINESS. Before I could even walk into the restaurant for the first time, the man yelled rudely that I could not park in the space near his business. I spent the next 10 mins letting him know that he is worried about the wrong thing in life and this is probably why he's losing his hair.😂 All he had to do was say, "Ma'am, there's no parking here". But instead he spends his mornings standing in front of his "not so prosperous" business(in my opinion) yelling at people. As I drove passed him, I told him how a real businessman would have other things to do with his time, and that this is a big city, you can't talk to people crazy with no consequences a lot of the time. Hopefully, he learned that day. Anyway, I parked two parking spaces away, and entered the restaurant. It was a little bigger than I expected which was nice and it seemed clean. There was like 6 men already enjoying their food at their tables and one of them praised my efforts and what I had said to the "parking lot complainer".😂 He thought I said exactly what the man needed to hear, and the lovely Asian lady at the counter was tickled at my efforts too.😂 I went in to get the pancakes that I had read good things about in google reviews, but they had just stopped serving breakfast..it was like 10am, so I ordered from the food I saw in front of me..kinda buffet style. I chose fried chicken, greens, yams(not really candid), and corn bread. A meat, 2 sides, and bread choice. The drink was extra (self serve). Over all, the customer service was swift and I got smiles..so I was happy with that. I took my food to go. Chatted with one of the kind men about how he had encountered the parking lot cray cray man, and we laughed about the ordeals we'd suffered. I got home and tried the food. Fried chicken..not bad. Greens..pretty good. Yams..not sweet as expected, but not terrible either. I think I will be going back for breakfast as the majority of the good reviews about this place was about just that. I would say, check this place out. So many food choices to try out. Keep in mind, they are not open late. It's kind of a diner type experience..only with some unexpected entertainment in the next parking lot starring a guy with nothing better to do than monitor parking spaces.😂 Y'all, don't hurt...
Read moreNever eaten here before, and when I saw it on DoorDash (with a breakfast frame of mind), decided to give it a try. Ordered the Getaway Breakfast sandwich on Texas toast, with sides of cheese grits, biscuit & gravy, and hash browns. Order arrived quickly, complete/correct and packaged well for delivery.
The sandwich was delicious. Texas toast was done perfectly and all the ingredients blended very well together. No one flavor dominated.
The cheese grits were delicious as well, not “watery” like some other places, and had ample cheese. The hash browns had a nice crispy coating but were not dry inside. Well seasoned too. Biscuit was not really flaky/moist...but had a bit of a dense chew that stood up to the gravy well. The gravy was a basic gravy...nice thick and peppery.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised with just how tasty everything was. Would certainly have no qualms about ordering...
Read moreA quaint little meat and 2-3. The owners/servers were very nice and friendly. I've had better fare, but also far worse. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but could've been seasoned a bit more. I had the "steak", which was a breaded patty of some kind, with brown gravy over rice, and carrots for my sides. I selected cornbread instead of a roll, and it was actually pretty good. Not too sweet nor too dry. The free drink (20oz) was left up to me. I did try their sweet tea, for the road as I was leaving, but added some lemonade to boost the flavor a bit. Overall, not a bad place for a quick bite, and the price was reasonable for what I got. Next time I may just go with the fish, which was my first choice, or fried chicken, which several others seemed to order. I'm betting their breakfast is much better however, and I'll try it next time I'm in the area...
