The Mattress Doctor — Local services in Pekin

As a veteran, with physical disabilities, I often experience anxiety and have trouble finding quality that's affordable. I do not write this review with any bias, this is my most honest assessment of my interaction with the Mattress Doctor. I went into this store with the intention to learn about matresses, get some prices, and potentially buy today! What I found was a really kind, extremely knowledgeable man named Phil. He spent over an hour with me, educating me, showing me many options with different firmness, comfort, and support preferences. He then had me lay on completely different mattresses and repeat. The overall experience was very comprehensive and far beyond what I expected. He told me up front what I'd be looking at as far as pricing, warranties, financing options and more! The best part of all, I am having everything delivered tomorrow!!!! If he doesn't have it stock I still would have had my mattress within a week!! They take care of everything for the customer, making this even easier for someone with disabilities!!! I can honestly say I did not feel pressured, I did not feel anxiety, I did not feel like I had to make a quick decision. What I felt was all of his attention and help, while focusing my long term needs. I can say I've purchased 4-5 mattresses over the past 8 or so years, spending a small fortune on cheap mattresses that I'd barely get two years of use before they began to degrade. What I spent today over the life of this mattress is less than what I have spent over the past eight years on other cheap mattresses. Today was the first time I ever purchased a quality mattress with warranties (a huge bonus!!) and a salesman that says to come talk to him or call him if any problems arise with anything! Phil was able to take my physical ailments and show me what would offer me exactly what kind of comfort and support I'd need! I'm sure in his lifetime of service he's dealt with many people in many different situations because he was able to direct me, not waste any time, as well as giving me total peace of mind with my purchase. It's clear I made the right choice with walking into Mattress Doctor and working with Phil! I highly, highly recommend the Mattress Doctor to anyone that's is ready to invest in total comfort, knowledgeable assistance, and reputable business practices! I can't thank Phil enough for the help, time, and ease with today's purchase. Especially in today's economy, no one is really comfortable spending money, but today I have zero regrets! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good mattress and friendly service. From the moment we walked in and met Dr. Phil he treated us not as a number but like family. He was extremely knowledgeable about which mattress would work best for us and that was a huge plus. But that is not what made our experience so awesome. What really blew us away was how he treated our sons, especially our oldest who is special needs and loves to talk with people. He is also highly intrigued with animatronics which usually leads to a lot of questions if your in possession of one that he finds interesting. Well from the moment Dr. Phil met him he acknowledged every word that he spoke and never once treated him as though he was different in any way . As I kept a close eye on all that was going on and attempted to make our decision on which mattress we thought would be best I couldn't help but notice how his attention was not on making a sale to us but rather entertaining my son and that as a parent means more to us than any attention we would ever receive as a customer. Well after a few minutes we made our decision and purchased the mattresses and left . At this point we were happy with our choice to stop in and do business here based on our experience at the store. But it wasn't until a few hours later that we truly understood how blessed we were to have stopped in at this place to look for mattresses. See when we were at the store our son had become intrigued with an animated James Brown doll that sang I feel good and he just absolutely loved it so much that he spent the majority of his time in the store looking at it and even had Dr. Phil put batteries in it just so he could hear it which was extremely nice. Well when the delivery guys got to our house he was holding a brown paper bag stapled shut that he stated was for our son. I have no words to share as to how this touched our hearts when my son opened the bag and there inside was this animated singing doll, something that Dr. Phil had gave us the history on while at his store having had this for over 15 years with a lot of memories of employee events and sales yet at this moment simply sent to a young boy out of the kindness of his heart. This simple act of kindness told me all I ever needed to know about this man , and earned all my future business moving forward. I know this review is long but to a family who recently moved to this state, not knowing anyone or any places of business this sure makes us feel like we are in the right place. 🎶 The mattress doctor, delivering dreams to yoooou!🎶 We literally only stopped into the mattress doctor today to price check some mattresses since it's been a few years since we bought one. Within the first two minutes of being in the store we were eyeballing a Mattress and we hear a man behind us say "what brings you in today"! My husband said that we were just browsing and the gentleman laughed and said "I've been hearing people say that for 40 years"! We laughed and I told him I was tired of my back hurting. He then approached us and told us his name was Phil and started teaching us about the mattresses after we told him what we were looking for. We spent about the next 45 minutes talking about the different mattresses and laying on them and seeing how they felt while also discussing several other customized options for these beds. Phil was very informative and it was very refreshing to talk to someone who was honest and who knew their stuff! We also enjoyed listening to his stories from his past and other locations all the way down to the type of bed that he has in his home & the one he's getting ready to buy. We really appreciated the fact that he was upfront and forward with us even when I was asking him random questions, he didn't try to tippy-toe around anything! After we decided on a mattress we were writing him a check we were talking about the name of the business and the jingle. I was then prompted to sing it and surprisingly I got two free pillows! That was quite a surprise and we were pretty happy about that! We had actually just got back from a 9-day trip to the east coast and we stayed in two different beds during that time so when we arrive back home and slept in our bed that first night we realized the next morning that we needed a new mattress! We knew that we needed one but taking this trip definitely helped us to realize that we needed to look into that sooner rather than later! Long story short we had a very very pleasant visit at the Mattress Doctor today it was comfortable & clean and it was a very happy welcoming atmosphere. We walked in not knowing that we would purchase a new bed but was very satisfied walking out with one!
