Food was good (mostly), service not.
will give props to them for having a lot of interesting items on the menu, and a solid variety of seafood in different ways. Any mexican place with more than one type of fish is unique, and they had a half dozen options with several fish choices, and some unique (to me) options with shrimp, salmon, etc..
If you are unsure, get the Chimi... perfectly done. I wish most places would do less stuffing/chicken, and this one too, but that's me... I could do without having half a chicken stuffed into my tortilla, (especially if that meant a few bucks less $$), but they serve a big chimi, stuffed with a LOT of chicken. Fried just right, not too crisp, not overfried, just right and flavorful and tasty, where you love to eat the folded ends of the tortilla because they taste so good too.
Chips and whatever that spicy ketchup is they call salsa was on the table as we were seating, brought at the same time as we got there. Chips warm, the ketchup stuff was Iowa spicy, but yeah... it's not salsa. It's not even Pace Picante sauce, and that stuff is a far cry from salsa.
Might have just been a busy night, everyone else raves about the service, but it wasn't great for us. After we got our food and second basket of chips (wish it had come earlier, while we were waiting for the food), that was the last we saw of our waitress... We finished without a check up/follow up, then waited, waited, waited some more, then finally, just went to the front to pay. If it was a busy night, that's fine. Hint for those nights... check on your guests more often, and you might find them waiting to get their check, and you can clear the table and seat the next guests!
So.... good food, meh on the chips/salsa, service leaves work. Your mileage and dining might vary, I certainly would give it a try if you want some good mexican and you...
Read moreI absolutely LOVE the mangonada alcoholic drink they have. Its spicy but still has the sweetness as well. But it's not too spicy. We got the street corn, which is sweeter than I usually make mine but it was really good anyways. They have a great variety of food available. I almost forgot to get a photo of my tacos I ordered. (Which i forgot what the name of them were but its barbacoa something) I apologize! But the meat was so tender and had so much flavor. The second time I went I got a meal that had steak onion pineapple and cheese and I asked if they would add shrimp which they happily obliged. It was fantastic and there was so much food I had a to go box full after I was done eating. They have a good variety of kids options chicken strips, corn dog, mac and cheese, taco, burrito etc. Although my daughter just devoured the street corn and my food she did order...
Read moreWas my first time visiting and it was a huge disappointment since everyone told me it was a great place to try. The waiter took forever to get our drink order and instead of bringing us the margarita tower like I asked for, he brought two small margaritas. 15 minutes go by and we finally place our food order and the food was horrible. It was greasy and had no flavor. When I reached out to the manager to explain what was going on, she acted like it was more of a burden for not saying anything right then and there. It’s hard to say anything when you can’t even flag you server down to tell him you’d like to talk to someone. I will not be back and I’ll tell everyone to go to Knoxville where they treat you like family and have the best food. This slop I wouldn’t...
