Pella Opera House — Attraction in Pella

The Opera House is a beautiful facility and clearly an amazing venue for many events……

However, I would like to tell you about our experience in dealing with the Executive Director Ms. Cyndi Atkins. We secured the facility for my daughter’s wedding from 1300 miles away in South Carolina (amidst the many issues with Covid that we are all unfortunately faced with today). She assured my wife and daughter time and time again on the front side (pre contract) that there was no risk as they would refund our deposit if we had any issues with Covid. Well, unfortunately Covid cases have increased dramatically to the point where most of the people could not attend. Every single vendor that we had contracted with in the Pella area for the wedding has honored their word and given us our deposit back 100%. Not Ms. Atkins though, she blamed my wife for putting her in an awkward spot and tried to guilt her for backing out due to Covid.

I am disgusted at the lack of ethics and integrity for an Executive Level position. Ms. Atkins, you are dealing with a very special part of people's lives (not to mention the impact of Covid) you should be ashamed of the way you are handling yourself.

We reserved the Bridal Suite at the Pella Opera house for my niece's wedding shower. It was perfect and our guests loved the beautiful and unique space. We utilized the long table in the "dressing area" for our food and it worked perfectly. We had 17 people at the shower and there was the perfect amount of seating for everyone. The console table under the mirror was a great location for the beverages. Cindy was amazing to work with and answered all of my numerous questions as I was planning this event from out of state. The Pella Opera House was the perfect venue for Hearts for Hospice 2025. As we brought back a beloved event after a several-year hiatus, we were able to do it in big band fashion, using every space the Opera House has to offer. From the welcoming lobby to the spacious dining hall to the gorgeous theater and lobby areas, we used this historic Pella icon to its full potential and loved every minute. The Opera House staff were delightful to work with, making sure that every question was answered and every detail was covered.
