💙3 Families 🧡7 kids all on a trip… to the same place on different days who've never met sharing our tips for Iowa travel! 😲 ➡️Together we have kids ranging from ages 1-9 & we've come together to combine our Pella, Iowa memories so you can plan a trip here, too! ✅SAVE this post to remember our best advice. From Erin @desmoinesparent 1️⃣Bring your own snacks & water bottle! 2️⃣Self-reserve the best seats for the Tulip Time Parade! Do this by leaving your blanket or chair exactly where you want to watch. Don't worry - it's safe! You can leave your stuff while exploring, then come back when you're ready to watch. From Amy @everydayoutdoorfamily 1️⃣If you want a budget-friendly option for spending the night, check out the camping at nearby Red Rock Lake. It's about an 8-minute drive and it has a beach, playground, bike path & natural playground. 2️⃣You can't go to Pella without eating Dutch Food! I recommend bitterballen (fried meatballs) & poffertjes (mini pancakes). Get them at @DutchFix. From Stephanie @familytravelnomads 1️⃣As soon as you get in town, head to the Vermeer Windmill to reserve your tickets for the tour! You can't pre-order & they sell out fast. 2️⃣Talk a stroll through the Klokkenspel Courtyard! It's an adorable pedestrian street right behind the Klokkenspel clock & next to DutchFix. You'll find beautiful dutch tile murals, fountains, flowers & a secret path to Molengracht Plaza & the Pella Canal. ✨✨ 👀 Instagram is a space for so many things, but most importantly it's about building a safe & comforting gathering space. It's a place to make friends, build a community, and to creatively find ways to inspire each other. 🌷With this, we're passing the tulip! Take this as your cue to reach out to an account you love & spread the good vibes. Build. Create. Inspire. ✨

Need to check out both sides. Thought it was the same display on both sides, but it has different characters on each side. We had to go back 2 hours later to get the full effect. Definitely worth it. Music/display is every 2 hours from 11am-9pm

Make sure you watch the story unfold on both sides. If you're early, sit on the benches or grab a drink at the Cellar Peanut Pub as you wait. A local gentleman that was out for an evening stroll stopped and explained the story and history.

The Klokkenspel was a lovely surprise during our visit to Pella. We got to enjoy some live music from a soloist while indulging in some amazing homemade ice cream—my personal favorite! There’s plenty of seating in the area, making it a great spot to relax and take in the atmosphere.

When not hosting live performances, it serves as a peaceful pedestrian alleyway, shaded by surrounding buildings and trees. It’s the kind of charming little space that makes Pella so special—tucked-away gems that give this small Dutch-inspired town its warm and welcoming character.

We absolutely love exploring Pella, and places like the Klokkenspel make it even...

Make sure you check the times for the figures appearance (like 11:00, 1:00, 3:00, 5:00) and make sure you watch from both sides as they have different figures (Street side first then court side) on each side. It is a neat experience, but if you are pressed for time & cannot easily be there at the set show times, do not feel like you have missed out too much. The area itself is beautiful and...

It was a glorious idea and I really love the entrepreneurship that thought of it. The downtown has some lovely urban renewal. Lots of cute shops. But the actual Klokkenspel was cheaply made and therefore the sound isn't quite right anymore and the moisture within makes it hard to see...
