STUDENTS AREN'T WELCOME & THE OWNERS ARE DISRESPECTFUL--I wish I could give this establishment less than zero stars. I have never been so disrespected by any individual or establishment in my life; however I have experienced this twice by each of the owners of this business. To preface, I have been a regular customer at this establishment for the past 3-4 years. In past instances of disrespect, I have overlooked it because this is a small business and I actively work to support them as opposed to larger chains, and I hold empathy in case people are having a rough day. However, no level of disrespect can justify a cup of coffee.
I've been coming here almost every day over the past few weeks for winter break to have some coffee and to study for med school exams. When I am studying by myself and my devices are charged, I automatically go to smaller tables because I am considerate of larger parties that need more space. However, I went in yesterday and the Cafe was packed and only the couch chair was available, so I waited until the first table became available so I could study. Within moments of me moving to the table, my friend arriving, and me setting up my lecture and starting to eating my food, the owner comes up and tells us( not asks) to relocate to a smaller table that was half the size to accommodate a party of 4 that was in need of a table. Verbatim, he walked up to us and demanded "time to move" after we politely declined after he asked us the first time. Meanwhile, there were at least 5 other tables of 4 people with only one person studying, and he chose to repeatedly harrass us to move. He raised his voice and was being very rude and disrespectful, and told us that if we want to go to the Cafe to study, we should go to Starbucks instead. After he realized he made a scene, he began to lower his voice and told us to leave because it was his business and he would call the police if we didnt comply. He also said he didnt care if my friend and I did not support this business any longer. It is extremely disappointing because I regularly went to this cafe for years. The irony is that half of the Cafe cleared out as he was making a scene, and many tables were now available for other customers. On our way out, 4 other tables of customers apologized for the owner's behavior and they told us they would also no longer be supporting this business because what we experienced was uncalled for, and the owner was extremely disrespectful.
Other students in the cafe told us that they have also been repeatedly asked to relocate/shuffle around the Cafe to accommodate other parties, and it is inconvenient for someone who is there to study. This Cafe is not student friendly.
Disappointed in this business, and will not be supporting them or their other locations...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I love going to small coffee shops to support local businesses and enjoy different vibes that each location have to offer. Unfortunately, today was the second time we had an uncomfortable experience at this mom and pops coffee shop and feel it was important to share with others who like to work from coffee shops to avoid this one especially since we see it has been an issue with others in the past as well. (read other reviews and you'll see)
After purchasing two full breakfasts, two drinks (just to be clear it wasn't only coffee) being extremely nice to the rookie cashier which clearly had Zero training (but we totally understood we all start some where) what seems to be the owner comes over to "fix a light bulb" we explained looks like its disconnected from the plug that we are currently using to charge our laptop. He then followed up with sorry guys I have to ask that all guest using their laptops to leave because I'm needing the rotation of the tables. If you like to come during the week no problem but on a weekend I ask that you don't use your computers. Since it sounds like he is having trouble with business we kindly got up and left but after investing in his business and basically getting kicked out we wanted to point out the following 3 points that might help him and others in the future:
1st we bought two full meals which that should definitely earn you a certain amount of time working. (minimum)
2nd- we sat down with 3 to 4 different families which were still enjoying their breakfast. Just to point out that we are not effecting any rotation. The minimum he could have done is waited for several tables to actually rotate before he did approach or see if we had spent at the shop or just sat to work.
3rd- and most importantly, if you're going to approach and interrupt paying customers that use their laptops in a demeaning way take a look around. If there are EMPTY tables why are you bothering us for sitting in a small table that only fits two?
We wish the business the best, the food was amazing, the drink was fresh BUT we obviously won't be coming back since laptop users are not worthy of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been here countless times. I would go back because itās a convenient place to get a good coffee. A light breakfast here for 2 people will be almost $50, so itās slightly overpriced. The empanadas are amazing but generally not consistent. For example, the ham and cheese empanada will have 2 pieces of ham one day and 20 the next day.
Most importantly, the service here can be atrocious sometimes. The staff treats you with complete apathy, as if you are a nuisance. The only person in there that has a happy disposition at times is the female owner, who greets you with a smile and a few kind words.
Not too long ago, I purchased a $4 mini ādonutā pastry for my child and it was hard like a rock. I asked them if they could switch it out for something else and they said no because he had already had a bite. They would have to charge me. Itās $4! Their cost is minuscule. It wouldāve been more valuable to make their customer happy. But I told them to forget about it and left the donut with my sonās tiny little bite there and walked out.
Another time, I ordered a pressed juice that tasted like pure water. It was supposed to have orange, pineapple, and cucumber. But I was positive it may only have had cucumber. Those things are pricey so I asked them to fix it. The male owner contradicted me and started giving me a hard time, stating that the recipe is always the same and that it wasnāt possible. I laughed in his face and asked him to taste it and see for himself. Thatās when he finally gave in and realized he was making this into an uncomfortable situation.
My husband and I are in the hospitality industry and sometimes we comp entirely eaten meals if the customer complains because, at the end of the day, the customer will judge you based on how you handle their issues. This cafe lost my family as costumers over these small issues. For the price, I would rather go where we are...
