If you are looking for delicious, authentic, out of this world Italian cuisine, then this is the place to go. BUT, if you want the typical boring Italian food, do not come here! This place is absolutely amazing! As soon, as you walk thru the door you are greeted by the hostess( at the time it was Lisa) so friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was Marissa, she was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive and provided excellent customer service.. For a Tuesday night is was really busy, but the bar was crowed. I definitely recommend reservation at anytime. Now the FOOD! I can’t say enough about the food. Presentation on all dishes were beautiful , everything was freshly made ( i described all the dishes in the pictures) There is plenty of parking in the front and in the back. Prices are reasonable. Great proportions on the dishes. Overall, EXCEPTIONAL service to all the staff members, that includes back of the house! A++ Rating
Update: another delicious dinner! We came back to one of our favorite restaurants for a pre/ anniversary dinner. We sat in the bar area and the bar was full for a Tuesday night. Reminder on Tuesday is $1.50 oysters, which were fabulous! Our server Erin was great, she was attentive and friendly. Now the food is always consistent, we have never had a horrible meal here. It’s always beautifully plated, always well seasoned and the Vivo staff Is spot on! Again, make sure you make reservations because it doesn’t matter what day it is this place is always busy!
I didn’t take any pictures because this is like my 10th time returning to this restaurant. This place is just amazing. The food is always on point , service is always fabulous. This go around we had Kevin as our server and I just can’t say enough about him! He was just wonderful! Our friends from the NS requested to come here AGAIN since they loved everything about their first visit! I can’t stress enough to make reservations because this place is always packed because the food is just amazing! I think I have tried almost everything on the menu and I have never had a...
Read moreThis place is the real deal, comparable to some in Boston's north end. Been twice and will be back. The brick roasted chicken was amazing, as well as the scallop linguine and broccoli rabe. Cacio e pepe was phenomenal as well as the tuna crudo. The bone marrow bruschetta and lobster oxtail Bolognese are the true heroes. You have to get these, the mixture of flavors from the lobster and oxtail in the Bolognese create an unexpected combo that really works. A dish unlike any other I've tried. The bone marrow bruschetta cannot really be described, simply one of the best appetizers I've ever had. It is not your traditional bruschetta, the bone marrow melts into the bread and creates an almost French toast-like texture. Rich citrus flavor and cheese compliment it perfectly. I recommend this place to everyone.
New menu items like the soft shell crab, salmon carponata and white Bolognese of white rabbit and King Crab are new favorites of mine. The carponata is the best bang for your buck on the menu as there is lots of it. The white Bolognese is something you cannot get anywhere else, the flavors are rich and powerful. Soft shell crab is fried and served with a creamy/fruity puree that is tremendous. We keep coming back here because it is so fantastic.
Latest visit included this glazed scallop lobster XO linguine which had huge perfectly grilled scallops and an amazing lobster sauce that coated the dish. Another 10/10. Also their lemon tiramisu is a must try just due to the fact this is the only place you'll get it. Absolutely delicious. The beef shank was tender and a huge portion. Very good entree option. Their lobster and butternut squash arancini we all agreed was probably the best one we'd ever had. Their burrata came with a crispy fruit tart which was a great touch. Can't say enough good things...
Read moreIf you're looking for an authentic, fine-dining experience in a laid-back, unpretentious atmosphere, you just found it. My husband and I were visiting from North Carolina, and were blown away by our dinner at Osteria Vivo. I don't consider myself a foodie, but multiple dishes brought tears to my eyes. You can actually taste the care and intentionality in the nuanced flavors of everything that comes out of the Osteria Vivo kitchen.
The housemade focaccia was delicious! And the Composed Island Creek Oysters...wow. Before this meal, I would have said I didn't care for oysters but these were a game-changer. It would have been all to easy to assume I wouldn't enjoy these and I would have seriously missed out! For my main, I chose the Glazed Scallops and Linguini. I took one bite and teared up. The scallops were perfection, the pasta was filling but not heavy, somehow bright and refreshing. My husband ordered the Lobster and Oxtail Bolognese and we couldn't decide who had the better dish. Both were extraordinary.
Other aspects were also great. Parking was easy, the staff were exceptional. As friendly and attentive as you could hope for! Our server was knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine list (the wine was wonderful!) and made great recommendations. The place got busy for a Tuesday night, and we were glad we'd made a reservation in advance.
My advice for dining at Osteria Vivo would be: Don't dismiss a dish just because you think you don't like an ingredient! You can trust the team at Osteria Vivo to create something truly beautiful...
