FreeHand Coffee — Restaurant in Pendleton

Wonderful atmosphere and customer service! Really loved my drinks. All of their syrups are made in house, which is super rare and something I really love. The lady at the cash register was super friendly and helpful. I am a barista though and I have a few thoughts/suggestions: first off I did notice that they do not have cold foam lids, which are very helpful to get the full flavor profile of the drink. The second thing is, I could tell that they do not mix their flavors in a pitcher. I have always been taught to put my flavors into a metal cup or pitcher then pour the espresso over the flavor, then stir the flavor into the espresso and cool down the shot with milk for an iced drink. I have noticed that makes the best coffee and really brings out a great balance between espresso and flavor. They definitely put the flavors in the bottom of the cup and tried to mix it in, but that never works. However, the drink itself was really great! I got a white Christmas, which is a white chocolate peppermint, cold brew with cold foam and I'm definitely savoring it! I rarely give good reviews for coffee shops, but I wouldn't mind going back...

Favorite coffee shop in the area! It's so hard to find cute, inviting places like this in SC. I feel like a lot of places in the area cater to the older demographic and their views, but FreeHand has an atmosphere that has made me feel welcome every time I've come in. The coffee is delicious, with MANY flavor options. They also occasionally create fun drink themes such as Taylor Swift and National Parks! However, for those who are used to Starbucks/fast food style speed, you should be prepared to wait a few minutes for your beverage; this is a small coffee shop that is providing a calm, cafe-style experience. My absolute favorite coffee shop ever, and we found it by total accident! The interior is adorable and they have tons of plants, very minimalistic. The drinks are also amazing! I always get the sleepyhead cold brew with nondairy milk probably 4x a week because it’s so good. The employees are really sweet and let you customize drinks however you like. Their chai is also a more authentic Indian chai compared to other coffee shops.

I think their partnership with Junto coffee is perfectly fine and a great choice! That makes their coffee one of a kind and they’re great for supporting good causes and a good company! I also wanted to add that they aren’t that expensive and charge less...
