Sal's Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Penn Township

Really disappointed in the customer service I received tonight. I ordered a Sicilian pizza, asked for a lite amount of sauce and ham. The person was confused about the lite sauce request, I explained and repeated my order to ensure it was correct. Once I received my order, the pizza had ricotta on it. If I liked ricotta, it wouldn’t have been an issue but I don’t so I called back to the store. The person who answered the phone was very sweet and helpful. There was another women (person who is on the recording when you call) in the background huffing and puffing about having to redo the order. She also stated that they would be picking up the original pizza and I shouldn’t except to keep it. I don’t care that they want to pick up the pizza. It was the tone and rudeness that come with the comment. I didn’t even bring up the fact that I was charged for the ricotta topping. I know many people probably take advantage and mistakes happen but it just could have been handled with more kindness. I have been a customer of Sals all my life. I will think twice before calling...

NOT SAFE! No masks are required. No one preparing your food wears a mask. No one who hands you your food is wearing a mask. No one in the entire restaurant is wearing a mask. It's a small kitchen with multiple employees where social distancing is impossible and not one person is wearing a mask. No high-touch surfaces are cleaned either.

This is not a safe establishment. It's not safe for the employees and it's not safe for the customers.

Before the pandemic, I would have given this place a 5/5 but their behavior is abhorrent and they should be ashamed of themselves for putting their employees and customers in danger by not following CDC guidelines and, at the bare minimum, requiring their employees to wear masks. It saddens me because I really liked their pizza, but I will not be returning to this place, even after the pandemic is over. You can't just risk your employees lives and everyone they come into contact with like this....

Management and food are great! The young staff is prone to making mistakes, as they are learning. But Management makes any mistake up to you, or replaces the item with the correct one. The food is delicious and the best pizza in 100 mile radius! All the sides and subs are great too! When you're order is correct and goes smoothly (99% of the time) it's amazing food! And when the young staff does make a mistake, they always make it up to, either that same day or a later date. We've got a family of 5, 4 of us are men, we order a lot when we do (fairly often) And they have made 2 mistakes in the last 23 years that actually affected one of our meals. And they fixed the mistake that same night! Management is very fair and cares how their people are doing their jobs. Great staple of Hanover!
