La Barra Del Taco — Restaurant in Pensacola

I have seen this place for awhile now on Facebook and other sites for their food. I love to try new places especially when ppl rave about how great it is. Please do not judge the place from the outside because the inside is super pretty!

We went for the taco Tuesday special, and I was excited that we were finally trying this place. I was already amazed by the way inside looked like...definitely different from other Mexican restaurants.

I wanted to give them a 5 star so bad, but we had a few issues. Keep in mind, I completely understand business but there are a few things ppl need to be aware of before you decide not to go back again.

The waitress barely spoke any English, so I believe this caused all the issues we had!

We ordered table guacamole and she quickly wanted our order as well. Our food came out 30 secs after we got our guacamole, so we didn't have any time to enjoy our appetizer. So definitely order your meal later.

I did the pick 1 because I didn't know what size the guacamole would be...I told her that I might order something else to make it a pick 2. I decided that I wanted something else and put in that order.

I'm a vegetarian, so I didn't want the meat but wanted to add onions in my enchilada and quesidalla instead. Most places swap out...but they will charge .85cents x 2 for onions.

When I received my bill....they charged me separately for my quesidalla, and would not honor the $14.99 deal. My $14.99 meal turned into $20 with upcharge and ringing things in differently. Again, I've been to other places and they would have honored the pick 2 and/or not charge the same price for a meal with meat. So be aware of adding things to your meal because that meal can become expensive.

Taco Tuesday ad that is on their FB page showed authentic street tacos which was the main reason we went since my son loves those. The $1.99 if for American tacos (lettuce, tomatoe, cheese). The street tacos (onions and cilantro) are $2.99. So be aware of that price difference.

I had already called the issues that were going to happen before I even got my bill...maybe because I had read the reviews. I was hoping that I wouldn't have issues. Well, my waitress went to talk to someone who then came over to me. I repeatedly was telling her I am okay to pay this, but I am just informing you that you should let customers know so they aren't surprised when they get their bill. She basically said those prices are for those items..they dont have onions. So DO NOT say no meat please add this veggie because they WILL charge you!!

While I was talking to her, some guys comes by and I assumed that he was the owner/manager. She tried to act like she took care of the problem, but I stopped him and explained my problem. He basically told me beef is cheaper than cheese quesidalla. My brain just shut down and I wanted to leave this establishment!

The main reason for this post is just be aware, ask questions, and look at your bill to make sure the charges are correct. It's sad because this place has so much potential but the lack of customer service just left a bad taste in my mouth.

1. The parking lot is very dusty and has a lot of construction nails so be careful where you park your car around the building.
2. The outside music is better than the music inside.
3. The drink menu does not have the prices listed so be sure to ask the price. Please note: This is the first Mexican restaurant that I had to question if they actually put any alcohol in their daquiries. Hint hint LaBarra your drinks really suck. Later on I find out my non alcoholic frozen beverage was 15.99 and it wasn't even a jumbo size.
4. Outside they advertise the Pollo Carbon for 13.99. My husband ordered the Pollo Carbon, he was never asked if he wanted half and chicken. He just said he wanted to try the meal. When we got the bill he was charged 15.99, when I asked why he wasn't charged 13.99 the lady said he never said that he didn't want the half chicken....The sign does not say half Pollo Carbon for 13.99 it just say Pollo Carbon for 13.99. Not to mention the chicken was so burnt and dry! My order was messed up to. And last but not least the food had no seasoning it was so bland. Y'all know what Mexican food really taste like and you know what it does when it is real authentic Mexican food there's nothing authentic about this place will never go. Period The place is clean on the inside but honestly the artwork just looks like a 7th grader colored...
