You ask Pensacola locals what the best pizza in town is, and O'Zone is sure to at least come up in the conversation. Close to being a city institution, this place is located inside an abandoned mental hospital, or something like that. Either way, the vibe is dark and cool, almost speak-easy like. And there's groovy artwork all over the walls and stuff. Very cool.
Service was good. They let us move chairs around to accommodate our party size. Nice fella.
The pizza itself was phenomenal. I hadn't had it in over a decade, so back then I was a literal child. Now that I've seen some stuff, I recognized the great pizza here. That, or they upgraded their recipe in the past 10 years or so. Either way.
As for the pies, we ordered the Ponderosa Stomp and the Carnivore for the table. Both were very good. The sweet heat of the honey and the jalapeno just lovely, and the addition of the cream cheese, that traditionally pairs well with both those things, was just lovely.
And the Carnivore was pretty good, too. It had a good array of meats, and not too meaty, just meaty enough. A nice pie.
Overall, an excellent evening meal. Great pizza, great friends, and a new place for me to frequent when I come back...
Read moreGreat family owned establishment! The fact that it’s in a historic building in Pensacola is great but what tops it, is that it’s an old morgue. It’s in a semi hidden place but when you enter.....wow. It was my first time coming here but I have to say it’s one of my top 3 places for pizza in this area. We first ordered the homemade hummus, which was amazing. Not runny but not too thick. The pita they served with it was hot and soft. Topped with fresh red tomatoes and feta. 20 ounce pints came next with, of course, made me happy. The beer selection was decent. Not so many that you struggled to decide but enough to quench the need. I ordered the Ponderosa Stomp with cream cheese and jalapeños. I have to say I was a bit skeptic but they changed that quickly. The pizza came out in a good timely fashion. Piping hot with fresh cut jalapeños. It has the perfect combination of all the ingredients. Although the cheese was a little too thick for me, it was still, without a doubt, a game changer. Great dough and toppings. O’Zone pizza has made a new lifetime customer. Keep up...
Read moreSo, I'm still kind of new around town and don't venture out too far from the North Side. Well, some co-workers told me I had to try this pizza place out, as I consider myself somewhat of a pizza connoisseur. I placed a carry out order around Noon right after they opened. It was a little hard to find the place if you don't know your way around. I eventually found it, right in time too as my pizza came out of the oven soon as I walked in. I got a small for $13.00+. I drove home like I was trying to break a record because I could smell the delicious cheese, pepperoni, & bacon pizza just steaming out of the box. Once home, I tore into it. The pizza is very good, they have some nice sauce just they were a lil stingy with it. All in all, it was a good pizza. I will eat again, with my wife this time. Then, that will probably be it as the place is just too expensive IMO. The quality is good but not that good. Don't listen to me thought, give them a try at least once. You will like the food, I promise. Fresh and very good...
