Food was excellent but the man that was ushering to tables was unbelievable--rude beyond belief. Seven of us drove almost 2 hours to meet at the restaurant to celebrate a birthday and an award the my granddaughter received which was a commercial she made. In showing us her commercial, the "man" came to tell us not to play video games please. We finished our 3 course meal with cocktails and will never return. He never even apologized when he realized his ;mistake.
Well I guess all I can say is I don’t care if you’re the owner or the servant you’re mannerism is rude. We were having an unexpected guest and only two people join us and if you cannot accommodate us you should’ve said so we would gladly have gone someplace else because all parties involved drove at least two hours to get there. Several guests did not complain it was only one woman who is very very obnoxious and yes she did spoil our 56th anniversary party, The grandmothers birthday party and a celebration of a very special award. I don’t know why instead of being rude you didn’t just say we didn’t have the accommodations for you because after all your restaurant is not that fantastic. We travel great distances to enjoy fine dining and have never been treated this way. Just a very typical behavior of Illinois. Yes we are global travelers and have done fine dining all over the world and yet to be treated this way and interrupted especially during a celebration which certainly spoil it. A person would think the owner would apologize to at least give a gesture of caring or customer service but this manager decided to accommodate an unbelievable rude person that had to be moved...
Read moreHorrible. My wife and I went in and were seated in the middle a large room at a large table. We could understand why when we saw several empty two seat tables. None we used the whole time we were there. Service was slow in fact we had to wait nearly 10 minutes to place our order. This was a Tuesday night and didn't appear very busy. Waitress kept passing us going to the two other tables she was serving but never said anything to us after initially saying us. We had to wave down another server to get our order taken. The worst part was we had to wait a whole hour for our enteees to arrive. We ordered the BBQ shrimp as an appetizer. $12 for four regular size shrimp! Sauce was over loaded with worchesire sauce. Our Caesar salads were a hunk of a romaine leaf and pasted on dressing. Enough dressing for 3 salads. The leaves were whole, not cut up. The tube croton was cute but chewy. The slice of bread was toasted but tasted like char. My wife ordered the New York strip and I ordered the ribeye. We both requested medium well. They came to us both medium slightly running red juice. It took so long for our entrees to get to us we didn't dare have them finish the cooking. As for taste, just like everything... way too charred. As for the $1.50 biscuits that we got at the beginning, dry, too much flour. Tasted pasty. They tried to make them look like a Red Lobster biscuit but missed the mark on flavor. Overall a very disappointing experience. Way too over priced. With two drinks our bill was $150. Not worth it. We should have went and tried Jim's bistro a few sites sirs doors...
Read moreI had planned this to be a very special occasion for my husband's 54th birthday. We agreed to guarantee that the mandatory $1,200 plus 20% gratuity for reserving the "back room" for 19 guests would be covered. The waitress was curt and condescending to our guests right out of the gate. It was then that I felt the whole tone of the night change. She was very rude to her fellow staff that came to help her. In fact, she only warmed up when she recognized 2 of our guests and when she was collecting tickets. All of the food was delivered in strange stages. For example, the woman next to me had eaten her entire meal before her husband received his, but the table before us was still on their salads. The coveted "backroom" is just 4 round tables that are not optimal for conversing or communing. I felt like we should have had placeholders for a wedding reception. The food and whiskey selection/drinks might have been amazing 4 years ago, but with all of our options locally, it was just mediocre. At least 3 people witnessed the waitress ignore my request for a drink refill, berate patrons for moving chairs, and chastise a co-worker. It was a very expensive let down. It was an overpriced barn-door private room. All of us were there to celebrate my husband's birthday. I never once thought it wouldn't be grand and amazing, given the guests and the venue, but I am still so disappointed. The food was just okay. The atmosphere was just a room, and the service was anxious to leave and get out of there. Not even...
