I came here for Brunch last Sunday, and then again the next morning. Sunday was great. We had a larger party, 7. But despite being there during prime brunch hours on a Sunday, we had pretty great service. My wife and I ordered more basic entrées since it was our first time (if they can't get biscuits and gravy or an over-medium egg right, then what's the point?). But my biscuits and gravy and her eggs and toast were both really good. Everyone else with us enjoyed their meals too. I also tried their bloody Mary's. I tried the orginal first, and it was fine, a little bland for my preference, but not bad. So then I tired the Serrano bloody mary, a step up in heat, and that was much better. I like a more peppery kick. Definitely one of the better bloody Mary's I've tried in the peoria area.
Monday, we decided to try again since we had the holiday off. Got there a bit earlier, about 9. And the 2nd trip was a bit disappointing compared to the first. This time, it was just us and our infant daughter. We only ordered coffee and water to drink, and ordered our food at the same time because we were in a bit of a hurry. And then we waited. And waited. And didn't receive our drinks. Saw the tables next to us get their drinks... and then their food. I'm fine waiting 15-20 minutes for the meal, especially if it's busy (it wasn't that busy on Monday) but waiting 10+ minutes for a coffee? Come on. Eventually I got up and flagged down someone I thought was the manager, and said I think our waitress forgot our drinks, he said he'd figure it out. By the time I sat back down, the waitress was coming out with our food, still didn't have the drinks. But she went back and got those after dropping off the food. So yea, if you get your whole meal cooked and delivered before being poured a cup of black coffee, I'm not imagining it being slow. Now for the food, we tried to be more adventurous and try items more unique to the menu this time, and were unfortunately disappointed. I ordered the Steak Stuffed Hasbrown Hash, and my wife ordered the A.M. Horseshoe. Everything was ok, but just underwhelming. Mine tasted ok, but it wasn't very filling. Seemed almost more like a glorified side dish or something you'd find as the breakfast special at a hospital cafeteria. Definitely not something I'd consider a "signature dish." I feel like it should at least include some eggs with it, for what it is. The A.M. Horseshoe was also just fine. It tasted ok, but the smash burger patties tasted dry and old, which really detracted from everything else.
Overall, if our first visit had been like our second, we definitely wouldn't have been in such a rush to go back. That being said, 1 really good visit, and 1 disappointing visit, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, and...
Read moreLet me start by saying this was my third time here, and the first two visits were good — which is why I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1.
My two adult children and I came in today hoping to take our minds off the grief of losing my mother just yesterday. Unfortunately, this visit only added to our stress.
We waited over an hour and fifteen minutes without receiving any food — and this was not during a busy time. Right from the start, things were off. I was served coffee, but no cream came with it. It sat there untouched for 15–20 minutes until I had to ask for cream — and then a fresh cup.
When our order was finally taken, the wait for food felt endless. We actually discussed leaving and paying just for our drinks, but I was trying to stay calm and not let our emotions cloud the situation.
When the food did arrive, it was disappointing. I ordered the two-egg breakfast, which came with sad, shriveled, overly browned potatoes and sausage links that looked microwaved. The only decent part was the pancakes.
My son ordered the hangover burger but was brought a completely different breakfast sandwich with no side. My daughter ordered a southern chicken sandwich but instead received something entirely different — some kind of chicken on a biscuit. That was sent back, and at that point, she decided she didn’t even want to eat anymore. She was already upset and crying.
They said they’d comp her meal and take 50% off my son’s incorrect order. Then, strangely, they brought out the correct chicken sandwich anyway and insisted she take it since it was already made. She ended up eating it, though she didn’t want to by that point.
When we finally got the bill, they had only taken off $7 for her and $6 for him — just $13 off the entire check — leaving us with a $43 bill for a meal that was stressful, incorrect, and upsetting.
We came here hoping for comfort, and left even more disappointed. We really wanted to like this place, but after today, we won’t...
Read moreFrom the moment I walked into Bloody Mary’s Brunch Restaurant, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere was warm and vibrant, with the perfect balance of cozy and trendy that makes you want to stay and linger just a little longer. The staff greeted us right away with friendly smiles and got us seated quickly — even with a full house, everything felt smooth and relaxed.
Now let’s talk about the drinks — their signature Bloody Marys are out of this world. You can customize everything from the spice level to the garnishes, and they go all out. Mine came topped with bacon, olives, and a tiny grilled cheese — yes, really! It was flavorful, bold, and absolutely the perfect start to brunch.
For food, I ordered a omelette with crispy breakfast potatoes, and it hit the spot. The omelette was fluffy and filled with fresh vegetables, cooked just right. The potatoes were golden and seasoned perfectly — crispy on the outside and soft inside. My sister ordered French toast — thick slices of bread, soaked and grilled to golden perfection, dusted with powdered sugar and served with warm syrup. Every bite was indulgent and delicious without being too heavy.
The service was amazing — our server was attentive and friendly, gave great recommendations, and made sure our drinks were never empty.
Bloody Mary’s is definitely my new favorite brunch spot. From the drinks to the food to the upbeat atmosphere, it was the perfect weekend experience....
